[28 Player] British Paras 1980s [03/08/2012? @ 20:00]

MISSION: CO28_PARA_Duke_CASTLE_v4
DESCRIPTION: 1980's British Parachute Infantry raids on Artillery emplacement
PROPOSED DATE: 20:00 Friday 3rd August (yes that soon, I really want to try this) (SL+FTL+HQ Turn up at 19:20 for planning, all else to arrive by 19:50)

Whilst planning for the main event I found this epic British map set in the 1980s that follows a British paratrooper platoon. Consisting of 3x Sections(8man) and a HQ(4man) unit. This map is loosely set in the Falkland era, and features L1A1s (The brits FN FAL).

It does look like when your dead that is it. It does reference 20 tickets I assume this is how many men you can lose before mission is declared a failure. This would therefore would ensure we wouldn't play this riskily

I was wondering if you guys would be happy to play this operation! We would need about 18 guys minimum to have a strong platoon!

Big event will be a map with some assets in an attempt to please more players (I have a candidate penciled), besides we already have 20 signups for the big event in less than 24 hours, and there are still plenty of people who haven't been reached yet. I am hoping for about 20 on this one!

Tthis is a bit of an experiment capitan, it is quite premature yes. It could totally flop in my face, but don't let that stop me from trying Razz

Well i know a GPMG is a General-Purpose Machine Gun
A GMPG is a miss-type? xD

If not, I think it's supposed to be just an Assistant Gunner.
Like a Squad member who carries extra ammunition for the Machine Gunner, and extra parts (Like a spare barrell/stock) Since MG's are very stupidly designed they break alot and overheat, split the barrels, get jammed, firing pins wear out and also backfire can damage the inner works, so that would make sense in my head...

It's actually good design being able to change the barrel. All barrels heat up, MGs especially so if they're keeping up a sustained rate of fire. It's just not such an issue for assault rifles. Overheating reduces accuracy as the barrel expands, so being able to swap the barrel and not be stuck waiting for it to cool is a good idea.

Having an assistant for a GPMG is a necessary requirement as it's no modern LMG that one man can tote around with all his ammo. It's a 7.62mm firing 12kg beast.

No, but you need to ensure that you have all the mods installed it takes several hours to download them, it also helps to understand how they work as they do change the game experience! True, no need to unistall first just run it and then run six updater with TS off to reset the ACRE plugin. All good now thanks lads.

It was more than I expected... It was as close as it can get to real trainings I've been.. Only thing that might help a bit more is Dubbing... basically if one guy gets orders.. he should tell it to a soldier behind him... Sometimes I didnt get them.. just saw ppl moving so did I..

Other than that, it was epic...

well I joined late and had to update s**t BUT, that was pretty awesome - very realistic and the closest I've come to the IRL exercises that I have done in cadets and OTC. Also with the comms problems then hey that is what happens irl tbh

Well I had fun, I'm really glad I got a shot at squad leading whilst not the big game. Was fun trying to lead my FTL (ferit) and I would like feedback from the guys in my squad to know if anything needs to get better.

On the flipside having a radio operator is awesome but way difficult. I think a lot of comms went missing in this game (but what happens irl too.. at least I think. At least its prolly difficult) even though I think my comms guy was awesome (ghost!). Just like everyone else in my squad, nice AT from BXV and nice squadding and urrrthang from my squad!

Mission was cool had some good immersion to it.

Only issues were,
- Comms
- Difficulty
- Objectives

Would love you to sort out a little mission on Clafgan.
- Pilot - 1
- Recon team - 2 members
- Demolitions team - 2/3 members
- Special Forces - 5/6 members

Objectives,
- Eliminate the taliban and kill there leader? something along those lines.
- After that push into an extreme hot zone and have some awesome stand off fire fights with the Taliban.
