Mission: SOCOM Cartel Yacht
When: 20:00 UK Thursday 23/08/2012 (Subject to change if min signups not met)
Slots: 20 (First come first served, after this reserves are taken up)
Min signups: 12 (Any less may result in termination of this event)
Lifes: No respawn
Setting: Night time US Navy seals special forces mission, based on the war on the drug trade in the 80s and 90s. Equipment is from that era.
Objective: The task force is tasked with destroying a yacht that is being used for drug trafficking in order to help in the breakdown of their operations. There is an optional objective to destroy a government ship as well. To be destroyed by satchel or AT4 (special script allows the use of satchel charges in the water, they simply float when placed).
Basic Intel: - Stealth will be necessary, avoiding contact until the demos are exploded is essential.
- There is no gear selection mission should happen straight off the ground!
Enemy:- There will be plenty of contacts, numerous enemy patrols around as well as stationary guards
- As previously stated this will be more about stealth
Arrival time - 19:50 or before
- All players should turn up at least 10 minutes beforehand and be on the server 5 minutes before start time.
- Fireteam Leaders/Squad Leaders to turn up at least 45 minutes before start as briefing will role out, you will be contacted ahead of time if you make one of these roles.
- You need to ensure that your game is upto date before the event (recommend updating day before, then re-updating on the day)
Slot Policy
- Slots priority is firstly given to those who have signed up in this thread, on a first come, first served basis.
- If more slots are free and you happen to tag along without having signed up, it will be on a first come first served basis.
- If you fail to get to the mission 9 minutes before start, your signed up slot will be freed up to those on a first come, first served basis
- Exception: zurfer may have a slot if he desires due to connection problems on Saturday beyond his control, he successfully turned up early, if he signups ahead of time. I will remind you that we aren't heartless

Does the map have respawns enabled? If not then the chance of there being a slot available very low. Unless we do not fire and do not get found until we go loud and even then we would need to be very lucky and uber medics. Then again if you do not try, you do not succeed. What Vig said. It was fun, and ArmA is good for sneaky missions, but when we've got a group of 15+ that's perfect for some Inf/CAS scenarios. Even Insurgency. I didn't fire my rifle once throughout both of the big ArmA games so far!
There must be some decent regular military missions that are worth playing?
Good work organising and planning though guys, you're doing a great job, and this is just some (hopefully) constructive feedback

'Big' arma games are the monthly event, you only attended the second one . The first 'big' arma game was the Fallujah domination round in which everyone got to fire their rifle including myself. It seems apparent that a weekly domination/insurgency would satisfy a lot of people! I think events need some better classification as to not confuse people as to what to expect.
This event was setup as I saw a map I wanted to try run through as this was more of a scenario/story map. Most missions that are based on scenarios/stories for our numbers suffer from a lack of enemies, but these are based on realistic scenarios.
I'll organize an insurgency event for next week! My eyes are set also set on organizing a TvT thing, but there's a fair bit to be sorted out.

I understood that it would be stealthy, and I didn't expect to fire my gun, but I don't think that is the kind of mission the majority want to do (I could be wrong). If I had the time I'd try and put some missions together but I just don't these days.

There are different missions that people wish to do this group has potentially 30-40 people to attend any event at present. Though everyone likes different things , I believe it is true that the majority would love to shoot more true and I reckon some insurgency/domination canl take care of that!

Problem is that if we do a big mission on sunday, we have to cut it short because loads of people need to get to uni/work early monday morning. Right now it's summer holiday for a lot of people, but that's about to change Same goes for weekdays, of course..

Start it earlier, or make it an afternoon event? You may not get the turn out true, but if its planned far enough in advance and its something people really want to do I'm sure they can make an effort

No CAS are you joking. In all the missions so far we have fired a total of 4 hel-fire missiles that have caused damage and taken out a target that inf had many chances to do.
Also if you don't have acces to the command and control channel of the comms you wouldn't know that A LOT of intel comes from the CAS team.
I've spent nearly as much time flying insert and over watch and have never fired a shot. Just getting into position of over watch and providing intel. My gunner gets to blow stuff up. While you all are moving about having fun but not firing your gun, have a though for the CAS the iron horse in the sky that has to hover for hours watching you all shoot tanks, moving around enemy etc etc.
I wouldn't change a thing, love the radio comms like knowing we can help if needed, like picking you all up and dropping you at the next LZ. Listening to your war story's as we RTB. Dropping supplies.

earlier might work aswell.. Because im +2 hours ahead of you guys.. So when we started it yesterday it was 10:40pm, but for you guys it was around 8:40pm..
