bf2 & 64bit os problems

Ok my bf2 crashes to desktop quiet often lately and im tryin to find out why, things i have dont to try to cure it over weekend please let me know if there is anything else i should try before i put my old pc on .

1, installed 1.5 & hot fix
2, installed and updated PB
3, installed and updated directx
4, installed sp2 for vista ( read on a forum that bf2 does not like 64bit sys) to update this .
5, runing with admin user account thing switch off.
6, happens on both sf and vanila
7, can happen 1 min in to game or 20min + into game
