My source and where it seemed epic
I quote a post there:
Depends, some people are nice chat with you over local they join you, or if not sometimes people trade. Food/Ammo for medical supplies or whatever interests you. Or sometimes people shoot other people or rob them, kneecap them etc. There's some really wanted items around the land and when you have them it's not advised to take them into town. The same goes for waving around that you have Bloodbags and painkillers when you're up north where it's hard to find medical supplies.
Yesterday I was scavenging around Elektrozavodsk with my CZ550 when I hear M4 and shotgun shots go off, too fast to be shooting at just a couple of zombies. I set up on a small tower in the firestation and witnessed that 3 people were 'sieging' 2 other people that had set up in the bank. I tried to get a tally on the people but the 3 on the outside had been stacked up on a humvee. I remembered the guys from the Bank to be ok they had sorta set up there so I tried to help them and shot one of the siegers with the sniper rifle. They got so scared that they hid and it gave the 2 guys from the bank an opportunity to flee to the docks.
Unfortunately for me the sound of my rifle going off attracted a small horde of zombies, which again notified the siegers of my location. I got somewhat overrun by zombies. I held them off but the sieging group (now down to 2 people) came in and found me. THey were asking questions so I ran away and I received a bullet in the knee, I was unconscious they took my stuff and left me there.
This seems epic.

Snippers as OP you might want to add a tutorial on how to install the addon. I'll give you a headstart here. Pictures will have to be used as wel. I might go and take a few screenshots from the folders and in the game. I need you to poke me in TS for this though. I forget a lot.
- Go to http://www.mediafire.com/dayz and download all files. Every single one, if you want you can download them as one big .zip file but in experience this takes the longest to download. When updating your addon you want to orden the files on date created. You can sort it by clicking on sort: create (2x).
- Then go to your arma 2 root folder. Mine is X:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead. In that folder you want to create an @dayz folder.
- Inside the @dayz folder you have to create another folder called "addons". So it will have to look like this. X:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/@dayz/addons. Inside the addons folder you will have to unzip the rar files. There will have to be a bunch of .pbo files inside the addons folder. In the folder above there should not be anything.
- Now you want to start the game using with these commands "-nosplash -mod=@dayz". You can change this using Steam by going to the game. Then right click on it and choose "Properties". Then click on "Launch Options". Copy - paste the launch parameters. I personally use an Arma Launcher for most mods. There are a couple but I prefer only one of them but it had a generic name. If the launch options do not work for you, you might want to look for a launcher. As far as I know the server does not support Six Updater but I have not tried.
Once this is done go to multiplayer and filter for "dayz". There are 3 servers when I last visited. One for New-Zeeland, one for Europe and a testing server. Ofcourse we want to be on the European server because of latency issues otherwise.

Yep the game I wanted for ages too, you will need to install it.
I kinda feel like we should play this on their server, to get more immersion with other player interaction.
Btw kickstarter for a sandbox zombie game, also looks quite awesome:

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
Is it not possible to host the server elsewhere for our own uses?
If the server files are public, of course...
::EDIT::
If I could get the bloody thing to work I'd give it a try...
Just get errors when launching, and won't let me connect to the server...
::FURTHER EDIT::
Managed to get it to work... had to butcher my Steam installation though... Definitely up for some of this at the weekend if someone can show me how to play!!!!

I liked it, I only have a few minor criticisms XD
Pros:
-That awesome feeling you get when you finally find another survivor
-The ability to fight eachother and scavenge for supplies
-The huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge map
-The difficulty
Cons:
-Zombies move insanely too fast... I can't shot because they zip across my screen :S
-Takes a bit toooooo long to find someone, though it is awesome when you find someone
-Weapon animations need doing up a bit

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
Last week I played this with another clan I shal not mention on this board. Actually if they still play it you might see them there. I'd not expect a warm welcome from them. More in the likes of shooting you on sight and/or taunting.
Anyways I was actually going to post it today but Snippers beat me to it.
What happened to me the first time playing is that the new version you could not see anything at night. The server uses realtime from IRL. And when it is dark it is really dark. I could not see the gun infront of me. Upping the gamma on the screen did not help either. Only thing you can do is drop a flare and then pick it up so you can see where you are going. Problem is zombies are attracted to flares. Was a lot of fun but the mission had to be restarted a lot because of ongoing development.
So far zombies have good animations but they are really sped up. You can still outrun them but it is better to drop the flare and hope for the best. You can still kill them in one shot with a revolver but it is a loud weapon and could potentially attract more zombies. The best thing to do is sneak past them by crouching or risk waisting precious supplies. You can find weapons, ammo or other really essential stuff like cart parts or maps by looking around in abandoned buildings on all floors.
In the unfortunate event you get slashed by a zombie you will have to bandage yourself or risk passing out due to loss of blood. Not only will this leave you vulnerable but if you do pass out you will have to wait untill you regain consciousness. Zombies can knock you out and start eating you. This works as a good decoy too, just saying.
A bug I encountered was when I could not cycle to my flares. Fortunatly a reconnect worked in that case. At the very end all of us were bugged due to the persistent savesystem. When we died we would respawn on our bodies with an empty inventory and the same injuries. We even reconnected to the server in the vain hope that it would fix our saves, it did not. Not particularly fun if you ask me but then again it was1.2.13 1.2.14 at the time. Hopefully they have flushed the saves and I can start anew.

I would love to use ACE/ACRE in this addon as soon as the devs add those. Currently you can talk using TeamSpeak which kind of detracts from the survival aspect. Local speach still works because of vanilla arma but it has very bad quality. It is frowned upon to use the other channels for VoIP.
EDIT: For those of you who want to know how to use an ordened list. Type your paragraphs. Then use the ordened list button. Every paragraph needs this [*] as to symbolize the number. So it has to look like this [List=1][*] Herp. [*] Derp.[List]
1. I agree that the zombies move way too fast. I can understand fast zombies but they really zip across the screen as you said.
2. Finding people is the best part. You will not find survivors that fast IRL with the added suspense.
3. There will never be better weapon animations. I really wish but so far I have found no addon that changes this. But to be honest I haven't looked either.
TL;DR: READ THE DAMN INSTALLATION TUTORIAL!

This looks absolutely superb. It also seems from what I've read that the maker has underestimated the popularity of something like this and the servers are completely full most of the time.
I think I'll try and install it tonight then get a game so I may be on TS screaming for help a little later on ;-)

Yes, but.. Oh my sweet christ, Nothing beats finding a small 3 man survivor group in the dark (First time of ever playing), then moving onto a city, popping zombies left right and center, we though we were dead and then we see a flash light shone at us, and lots of shots rang out

I should imagine the night-time gameplay will only get better with time. In my head I can see this some weeks / months down the line where you can construct barricades and make lamps and create your own little camp. Now if they can add that, this game will easily stand in my top games of all time
And then finding another group's camp! And ambushing it as they're sat around a fire cooking! Would just be so cool!

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
Who can guess what I found?
Took me the best part of ~3 hours to get from Khelm area back down to Balota airstrip. A large percentage of that was done with nothing but chem flares or nothing at all...
I did stumble across two chaps on my way down, think it must have been around the Tulga coast, who were sorting out their gear etc by the sea, with a flare down so they could see what they were doing. Queue me sneaking up behind them, looting 5 Revolver mags from the closest chap and then running away without a trace.
Also spent probably ~5km running away from the same horde (I did team up with a chap near Khelm). Ultimately he died and they were drawn to his body. Annoyingly, that was where I ran out of ammo - and he had an Enfield with 5 more clips! There was no way in hell I could have got back to that!
I think flares / chems need to be a bit more common though. There was a point where I had to run in pitch black (sticking to the coast) until I could find a lit flare and trail that person until I could steal some flares...

I find flares by the dozens. I usually ignore them when I've got 2 stacks of them. Chems are a bit more uncommon but they are there.

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
Oh man, that Airfield raid was pretty intense, but the bit leading up to that was even better...
I spawned in, ran up to 3 flares, and they were all like "Dude, do you know the way to Cherno? We have no f*****g clue". Cue Voodoo's intelligence (IE, listening to John when he was telling me how to navigate), I brought the lads to Cherno, but before we arrived there, I saw a lit flare in the distance. I got a bit panicked, and shouted "Quick, get your weapons drawn!!", and all I heard was Xazper sprinting towards us shouting "Don't Shoot! Don't Shoot!! I just died like 15 times" Eventually, meeting up with Red, Joff and a few other lads, we managed to make it to Cherno, and to the camp. Then.. the Airfield raid to save Bjn & Da-Fort. Unfortunately, we got their a little late, Da-Fort got with us but Bjn got shot

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
Last night I was running along the coast and it was pitch black and I lit a flare on a lighthouse and he came up to me and we were both cautious since he had alot of gear and I had a M9
We then walked along the coast and ended up picking up 4 others making a party of 6, I then heard Snippers lost his group and saw him coming out the darkness to make us 7 (I was totally the leader) then we found a hospital after me nearly dying and loosing someone, snipps gave me a blood transfusion and I was cool again and I logged off on the hospital

Re: Yet Another Zombie Mod
dripping, i had to delete my ArmA 2 install and am now re downloading. Steam had got messed up with six updater and beta patches. OA would not run. I spent alot of time trying to fix it, no luck.
Hope to be on dam soon. This sounds like an epic MOD.
