Doesn't VSYNC reduce the frame rate? I disabled mine a long time ago. Just tried out the noblur patch, definitely an improvement. Better performance and no crazy blur like I've got cataracts or something.

I can't stand the motion blur, makes it feel even more clunky and slow than it is. Apparently, it also gives quite a big performance boost as well, the motion blur code was very inefficient. Will be trying it when I get home today

i just played it, and it's the hardest game i've ever seen.
so many controls and i dont even have qwerty so i dont know the special keys :s

but anyway it looks more realistic then PR , except for the strange aim down sights.

Another fix for something that bugs me with this game - the awkward CQB combat and house clearing.

Just finished my first Arma 2 mission. Only took 14 hours straight haha *dies...*

I'll be hosting it later (after i go.. somewhere else.. for a... ...while). It's a 6 player coop special forces mission. Includes fighting PMC bodyguards, interrogation state diplomats and big explosions and a very nice story if i may say myself.

Ok, there finally seem to be cheaper prices online now. I know I need the base game and Arrowhead for PR:ArmA, when it comes out, but are you guys using both right now, or just the base game?

Can get each for around £12 now.

if you want to play with us your'll get at least operation arrowhead, ideally both as ACE and most of the maps missions require both, not all though so we could play with you if you had just arrowhead, but your'd be missing out a little bit. So both are highly recommended to come and join us with

Its a game I'd like to get into, but the demo seems way to un-intuitive. It's just not user friendly (for me anyway )

Rodders you're absolutely right the GUI is a mess. You scroll to select actions, space to order squad (and/or f1-f9 to select members), you select with mouse (can be rebound.. I should probably get that done) and go from sub menu to sub menu. Then there's the 1 mil keybindings and on top of that the 2 mil ACE bindings

Still it has brilliant AI (In open ground and large scale. specific units tend to be dumb as bricks, but accurate. They are awesome in the way they will flank you and use suppressive fire. They're useless in buildings too), giant maps and a lot of equipment.

All in all it's the best thing ever if you want military simulation and not just a shooter and can get over the clunky interface which isn't bad once you remember the numbers for quick selection. (Like instead of space>scroll>mouse0>scroll>mouse0 you just go space>1>6 "All stop!")

I'm gonna reinstall this. I got in on the action with UO community, to hardcore for me. That, and in another time zone.
Anyway, I'll be happy to game with you guys.

Well anyone can host but I usually do. Good for me I get no AI teleporting all over the place

Just bought ArmA 2, Operation Arrowhead and the British Forces DLC for the measly sum of £20.77 on Steam - bargain!

Looking forward to playing this, will love it even more once the PR version gets polished off

(Note for any of you that are thinking of getting it through Steam, with the current sale on it's better to buy the things individually, as with the pack it comes to around £27 by my reckoning

Last night I played on United Operations for the first time, cheers Orange for accompanying me, flipping heck! what an expierence that turned out to be firstly ACRE (radio mod) is awesome beyond belief, I have a lot to learn made some silly mistakes, like not brining ammo to the firefight the first time around ( I had to equip a big radio which unequipped my ammo without me realizing). Those guys sure do know how to use their radio, its pretty cool when you get ingame, and all the pilots are requesting authorization from the commander to actually transport people around, radio comms was amazingly solid, but felt like a proper noob on there. I dont think I want to talk about the worst half, but damn realistic and was a lot of fun. Really need to learn to use ACE a lot better.

in short what you need is:
Arma 2 & OA
ACRE (TS3 plugin for realistic radio comms)
Yoma addon sync 2009 (look for instructions on their website)
recommended: STHUD (small "radar" in the bottom of screen shows where group members are)
