Did they improve the AI or something? It was god-awful when it replaced players who left a match early. Just blindly attacking points with single squads and even with AT guns...
The AI that replaces players is always on hard, never played against the AI so I don't know how expert behaves.

Theres not much real difference between the Hard cpu and the Expert tbh.

He was just a tiny bit quicker at getting armoured vehicles out there compared to the hard, but as you see from the stats, I got most of the kills anyway, as I was defending 2 chokepoints, the cpu was only defending 1.

The ai isn't too bad, the most annoying thing is that they just don't give up trying to capture your points, and send hoardes of infantry at them with no real intention of using counter tactics.
If your defending with tanks for example they still send infantry, if your defending with a pillbox they send tanks and half-tracks (The half-tracks do terrible damage against structures) and if your defending with infantry they send specialised units like mortar teams and mg teams which sounds like they are supposed to but they don't protect their flanks from you just rushing them.

The soviets used to use a hell of a lot of 120mm mortar teams back when it was closed beta. Those RUINED infantry and emplacements. I went out of my way to steal them as Germans. They removed the Ferdinand however. I'm kinda irked at that.

They have the elephant... not as good imho but great for wiping out infantry and structures, not so good vs tanks...

The Ferdinand was one of Germany's most powerful Tank Destroyers. That thing had ridiculous range and it would just butter any vehicles it came up against. It was great. It must be limited to a specific commander then.

I for the life of me can't remember if Germany could use it by default or if it was commander specific. It has to be Commander Specific now because I couldn't find it. I remember using the Hull Down ability on that thing. It was really just a complete terror for any vehicles it came up against. It probably had a range that extended a ruler's length from the end of the gun to its range-end.

The Elefant is a tank destroyer variant of the tiger.

The Elefant is also known as Ferdinand. They probably just changed the name.

the difference between ferdinand and elephant is that elephant have machineguns against infantry.


Ferdinand was used during Kursk and all the surviving Ferdinands got upgraded during 43/44 and got machineguns and other small upgrades and got renamed to elephant.

I don't quite understand why they changed how the commander skills worked... they seem to not focus on 1 aspect now like in coh1 where you choose a speciality, now you just seem to get a mix... and unlocking new commanders at higher levels seems a bit odd.

I just think Ferdinand is a cooler name than the Elefant. Especially since the German's had a tendency to use fierce cat names for their vehicles (Tiger, Panther, Puma, Lion, etc). Elefant? Really? But yes, it IS the Elefant in CoH2, but regardless, it was a BEAST.
