Problem with PR
Hello everyone,
I have a memory.dll error with PR . Every time I try to join a server I get an error message with this information: [Memory.dll: thread xxxx is deallocating main thread memory] with xxxx replaced by any number. Anyone have had this problem before? PR has run fine with my computer but during this week this problem showed up. I have reinstalled BF2 and PR now almost three times without antivirus program on and even in safe mode.
My problem is similar to this one: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/109539-bf2-pr-memory-dll-thread-xxxx-deallocating-main-thread-memory.html
I thought you guys might have some tips, so I post here first
I have also tried to fix it by how [R-COM]LITOralis.nMd said in his post, that didn't help either.
My specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 3.4 GHz quad
GPU: GTX 460
PSU: 850 W
RAM: 8 Gb
Connection type: 3G modem
Hope I find hope here!

Re: Problem with PR
Well, we'll see if we find a fix for this. If not, it ends at June. I will formate my HD and clean all BS to get this fixed. Once you get your hands dirty with PR, you never go back...

Re: Problem with PR
If you've reinstalled several times then I'd imagine it's not going to be something wrong with the game client.
That would lead me to think that the issue lies either with your OS install, or your hardware. With the OS, there's little you can do without really formatting and starting again - unless you have the CD and try and do a repair.
Download memtest and run that for several passes - it will see if you've got any errors with your physical RAM sticks. Try taking one stick out (I'm assuming you have 2x 4GB sticks here) leaving you with just 4GB and trying the game again.
The only fix I know to work for this is the first reply back on the thread you linked. All it basically does is deletes your user profile locally and creates a replacement using BF2. Might be worth giving that a try if you haven't already.

Re: Problem with PR
Every time I shut down PR a message (pling) comes up saying something about memory and error. It's weird because it's only when I shut the game down, and it doesn't affect gameplay or cause any crashes...
This doesn't help you, I know, but I thought I'd just say that

Re: Problem with PR
bf2 > pr, loads to ram then feeds gpu when needed and from info that goes through the cpu.
various things too try i suppose,
check your ram is ok,
check your gpu is ok, (over heating etc)
check your cpu isn't being over used, particularly by something nasty, do a comprhensive virus check and check your cpu usage when the machine should be running idle.
check and update your gpu drivers (or roll back to previous known working versions)
down grade your Bf2PR graphic settings (start on low and off) and see if you can run (this is perhaps the easiest thing you can try but remember to make notes of all old and new settings)
any new hard or software adding in the past week ? if so maybe uninstall or roll back windows to the date your computer last ran PR successfully.
don't despair !!

Re: Problem with PR
Try running BF 2 cleaner, and clear all your cache files etc.

+ RAM checked, memtest showed no errors
+ GPU is fine
+ Virus scan done and viruses cleaned
+ GPU up to date, with current version I have played PR just fine
+ No added software during the past week unless you count in the Vietnam add-on
There is something odd with this now: I can perfectly run this game local, but in multiplayer, eveything goes boom

Re: Problem with PR
Just did another clean install with Kop's advice and it's hard to delete the cache folder with BF2 cleaner when you don't have one . Deleted Battlefield 2 directory from My own files, let it recreate it and bam, same lovely memory error. I remember that I did a full virus scan on my computer and after that Bf2 didn't want to work. Even disabling my antivirus when installing and trying to join a server didn't help, so my options are quite limited... time to wait till June and kick my HD's ass (by formating)
Every other game works fine, just Bf2... guess it might be some problems with my OS, perhaps some update is messing up with BF2. We'll see what future brings with it. Back to reading my biology books, haha

Re: Problem with PR
so to get this straight, you could run Bf2PR until you installed PRV ?
(if yes) do a system restore to pre PRV install and see what happens.
PRV is still a beta, it might contain problems that your rig doesn't like.

Propably yeah, PR Vietnam could be the cause here, but about system restore, I don't think I'll be able to do it anymore. I've been re-installing BF2 and pr and tested stuff a lot so there is no pre PRV install recovery point anymore. Should've tought about this, stupid me. I wonder if I could do a system repair?

Re: Problem with PR
just find a restore point from a couple of weeks ago, this will be fine and it will undo everything you have done regardless of how many times you did this or that.
that said system restore is done at 'owners' risk but i've never had or known anyone else to have a 'nightmare' system restore.
hope this helps, good luck.

Re: Problem with PR
It's just it doesn't let me take a restore point further than two days. Even if I ask for it to give me more options, nope, nothing happens... soooo, I don't know what to do here than wait till June 'cause I have more time then. Well, I can't be arsed anymore with this BS, gotta utilise time to read to the university exams . Thank y'all for your help, really appreaciated it!
