100 tips for an Infantry PR Squad...
100 tips for an Infantry PR Squad.
A similar thread has been running on the Reality forum, covering a broader range of PR assests. However...
Recently we've expressed ideas on how to lead and keep a squad alive longer. So, lets see if you can come up with 100 tips and tricks that an infantry squad would find useful.
1. Use of topography. Even though the PR game engine is relatively limited, there is still scope to use the terrain to your advantage. River beds, tree cover etc can be utilized to close with the objective.

5. Covering Fire (especially for a LMG/HMG/APC/Tank/CAS gunner) means:
Start getting through those belts/mags asap into possible enemy locations, not a few well aimed shots now and then at enemy's popping their heads up.

Re: 100 tips for an Infantry PR Squad...
7. GRENADES
there are 2 weights of grenades, frag /anti armour and smoke/phosphorus
there are 4 ways to throw a grenade after you have selected it and it is your hand
1 right click (approx your location)
2 right mouse button and hold (approx 2-3 metres)
3 left click (approx 10 metres)
4 left mouse button and hold (approx 25 metres)
if you want to throw a grenade through a window first aim your rifle at the top of the window frame then without moving WASD or your mouse select your grenade and throw, many windows have bars across or vertically within the frame avoid these when you aim as the grenade WILL bounce off and back at you. practice the power of the throw to work out how far you can stand away from the window for successful results.
you can't throw a grenade on your head, with this in mind if your enemy is the other side of a wall or on a roof immediately above and next to you throw the grenade as far as vertically possible, it may well travel far vertically but will come down 2-3 metres away horizontally.
always warn your team mates you are going to throw a grenade and tell them WHERE you are going to throw it....if in doubt DON'T THROW !!!!!!!!
when you throw a grenade it is often noticed by the enemy, take a moment to work out where they would run to if they notice the first grenade, then throw your second grenade there immediately, any delay and the tactic won't work.
medics, throw your smoke between the shooter and your patient not on you patient, any competent LMG can fire at the epicentre of the smoke you put directly on your patient making it impossible for you to get him up.
on insurgency as blufor the squad leader should always keep count of his squads PHOS grenades.
phos grenades are very very good at masking the sounds of infantry movement in close quarters.
use smoke to cross streets, even the wide streets in Muttrah become passable with just 2 well placed smoke grenades.
squad leaders coloured smoke defeats TI (thermal imaging) found on many APC's IFV's and tanks.
do use coloured smoke at a landing zone for helicopters that's what its there for !!
grenade traps are designed specifically to team kill, they serve no other purpose. if you do see it before it see's you you can go 'prone' and crawl through the trap.

9. As squad leader take time to brief your man on their assignments in fire teams. Alpha,Bravo,Charlie... it usually doesn't take more than 2 mins and give you much better control over squad.

11. Don't forget about formations, intervals and your place in all this... if you want Alpha to be ahead of Bravo and Charlie on drag than state that clearly. If your position is in the middle of formation than do not rush ahead of point man. If your fire team is tasked with draging that mean it is your responsibility to keep rare secured, don't neglect that even if point man declares contact. If you see fire team ahead of you holds, you hold as well unless ordered differently (like when stacking before crossing open ground). Remember that point man might need some time to ensure that passage is safe so give him space in case he need to pull out.

12. Keep checking map for position of friendly units, try to adjust to what is going on battlefield, you don't always need to do all things by yourself.
... tbh sl or not sl, well I talk about things that I feel confident in and imo infantry squad without competent sl seems like a bunch of blinds looking for a lighthouse. I felt those tips are directly connected to infantry squad not to sl in general.

13. Each sm needs to watch an arc and stick to it, time after time the squad i am in has been taken down by 1 or 2 men with ak's, know the importance of shouting out what direction your covering

Keep your medic in the back.
Also, when your trying to do a quick assault on a compound, quickly rope over, with your specialist first, make sure the medic goes LAST.

When waiting to move out/or when in open ground your SL is not handing out hershy bars, therefore please refrain FROM CROWDING ROUND HIM LIKE THE SEAGULLS OUT OF NEMO!!! (link here for those that don't get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNiR5ZTb_MA)

14. Communication / talk to her/him
every squad member should have a MIC and SL should be in charge of his company and make sure his team keeps up to the defined task.
Iam not affraid to kick people from my squad if they dont work for the team and they are not able to keep subcoordination withing the squad.
cheers,

16. Keep everything simple. The more simpler everything is the less things that can go wrong.
17. One squad can't accomplish alot on its own. Working with other squads is paramount to success always.
18. Never attack a well defended cache head on. Flank round find the fobs, then the rest is easy. 1 fob reinforcing a cache will indefinately spawn infantry their until it is taken down.
Sl tips i know, but I got alot to give

19. Make use of area attacks, they are given to us for a reason, i see round after round go by without people using the area attacks, if the whole team has come up against a very well defended cache and cannot gain any ground the JDAM the ragheads, and if you're lucky you'll get the cache, a load of kills (intel) and probably the next cache showing up, which will be largely undefended due to the fact that 90% of the other team have been digitally vapourised...

20. make sure you communicate with the heavy assets, having some apc or tank suppport is a big help in assaulting caches. And afterwards you can take a ride back to main.

Re: 100 tips for an Infantry PR Squad...
21. move and cover, move and cover.
use a caterpillar formation, last one in the line moves up to the front, while everyone else keeps their bloody eyes open. this enables all but one of the squad to be stationary, letting them fire more effectively. this enables better spread too, lessening the danger of grenades.
22. if you see a gap, cover it. ie. if no-one is keeping an eye on your 6, you do it. if you see people dashing across gaps without keeping an eye on the lines of fire, you do it. the less the squad leader has to lead by instruction, the less pressure on them, the better decisions they make.

23. know when to engage and when not to engage.
when the squad is in cover, moving towards a target, and has not been detected, do not take the opportunity to make an easy kill on a soft target unless specifically instructed to do so. the long term benefits of stealth outweighs the (few) points gained by making a kill.

24. Spacing. Please watch your spacing. 5m is a good distance when moving, but don't close up unless the SL tells you to

25. Do exactly what the SL says, when he says it, where he says and how he says it. Get so frustrated when people can't follow simple tasks, often leading to the death of the entire squad.

26. Use support! You have mortars, cas, armor and all that stuff. Use it as a tool to achieve your objectives.

27. Use MUMBLE and the NwA-channel on the PR-server, choose the right team(just ask the guys there)... and as SL freakin'go to SL-Channel.
As told in earlier tips, communication is essential.
So do it and you'll be able:
- to talk with local players around you to ask for intel, medic or support for your squad
- to locate other players by voice direction to GIVE them support
- to exchange intel, grids and requests with other SLs
