BF2 Vanilla gone IO

Last night we switched the Vanilla to IO as the server had been sitting idle for one reason or another. Myself, Bully, Meat and Unber have been playing IO with commanders banned on a couple of servers and have found it good for team play. I personally would like to see us use the BF2 server as 32 IO with no cmdrs and have about 4 inf maps so people don't get too bored with the same one the whole time. Here are my suggestions:

Op Blue Pearl
Karkand
Mashtuur City
Great Wall


I know to change the rules there must be a vote, but we've tried accommodate all with the vanilla and all that has happened is an empty server. Let me know your views.

I think this the way forwards! I also think no commander is a grand idea! It helps promote team play and skill, without getting arty'd every two frigging minutes! When we have made a final decision, then we need to stick with it for the foreseeable future, give people time to become aware of the changes, and add us to their favourites!

The Senior PR Admin may be better to comment on this, cos I may be wrong, however my thoughts we're...

... One thing we've found on the PR server, we changed it to Insurgent only, because that's what players seem to want. Marking it as such on the server lists resulted in a full server for quite a while. Then it went quiet again. Now it seems, people want AAS, so we've acomodated for that. Again the server was back up to full over the weekend.

I guess my point is that, be prepared to keep making changes to the server format to keep people interested. Making it IO with no commander may work for a little while. Until people want a different format for a change.

From my experience the servers that are full everyday are the ones that stick with the same format. That way u build up a set of regular players, who come back cos they know what to expect. I also think most IO players prefer no commander.

I'm happy with what ever you guys decide regarding the Vanilla

seems we may have made the right decision, the BF2 server has been going all night. a few more night like this and i reckon we can have it running most days!

I was on lastnight and it was great to have our server up and running. IO brings the clans and players that like tactics and skill. Good fun

I would like to have another map in the rotation with the IO server though, 24/7 blue pearl is quite tiring and gets boring too after 4 to 5 rounds. just suggesting ;-)

but the server has been full for the last 2 nights solid, and i cant see why it shouldnt stay like that.

Blue pearl is running great! We found something people actually want to play, then we want to go change it again! Just dont get it! I can see the arguement for maybe adding great wall, but thats about it.

I know what your saying Bully, but people are fickle, especially form Liverpool. NEVER happy! Mind you, with Kops new PC, he'll be able to play both sides at once and cc, then kick, ban and have a coffee all with one click of the mouse.

We could play a map or 2 maps for a week and then put on another or 2 for the next week and rotate like that. I'm just ing ideas around to see what people think.

I like the idea of having 2 maps. Least that means you can still fit it in the server description.

Nice to see the Vanilla running smoothly, cya around guys.

dont matter what maps we put on if no one is going to help with getting the server started. ive not been about the last couple of nights, yet i still ildled for 24 hours straight with no joy!

and ghost town is a cool map for SF.
