Which Card?!
Hi, getting a new GPU soon, but im stuck for choice, i currently have an a nvidia geforce XFX 8800gts, its a good card but its a bit outdated now, i was thinking of getting either a HIS radeon 4770, a nvidia gts 250 (which i need to save up a bit more for) or a radeon 4850 which i also need more money for. THe 4770 looks very good spec for the money but it dont have as much features as the other cards. What you guys think, let me know

Re: Which Card?!
Apparantley the radeon 4850 is indeed a solid card for the price. Personnaly id get one of the Nvidia XXXX GTX range cards. It all depends what sort of games you want to play tbh. The nvidia gts 250 will out perform the 8800gts without a doubt, due to the many more pipelines it has.

Re: Which Card?!
Get the best you can afford. I got a ATI 4870 best at the time.
The other thing you need to think of it what spec is your CPU. The CPU still handels alot of info when it comes to graphics.
Nvidia has a graphics card CPU balance app found here
http://www.nvidia.com/content/opc/v3/OPCEnthusiast/OptimalPlatformEnthusiast.html
see the diffrence the CPU makes to the grafix performance buying a new CPU and some ram may be a better way to spend your money now and get a new grafix card later.
The xfx8800gts is a good card yes the others are better but spending £250 on a grafix card to get a %15 performance increase when the card you got with a new CPU and some more memory for the same money could get you a 30% increase in grafix your money your choice.

Re: Which Card?!
I'm waiting until Christmas, after Windows 7 has come out and a few more months of driver evolutions. I've mostly always run nvidia card because I get msot fo my hardware from a particular manufacturer. Yes the drivers are a little pooop at standard but you can always find someone who's tweak them to get a bit more from the card before OCing.
