pretty ridiculous. They've flicked a few switches and quadrupled your download speed. Interesting that they were more than happy for you to pay for (presumably) 24mb and sit on 3mb

enjoy it though, faster than half the country apparently

ISPs will always tell you that the speed you pay for is an "Up To" speed. Bullshit if you ask me, because they damn well know how to make it so you reach the speed you pay for.

I was stuck on 12 down 1 up while we were paying for 40 down 4 up. All it took was two phonecalls before they sent a mechanic by and fixed it.. but you have to make that first call, otherwise nothing happens.

I believe that they want to implement a rule in holland that isp's are required to deliver said speeds. That means that they can no longer say "up to 20 mb/s" or anything. Unless are are actually going to deliver.

UK have upto as well but regulator is introducing rules where customers have to be told what they can expect once connect.

I'm on 60meg down 6 meg up. Although I get 60 down, at peak times Of day I get 150ping and 100 plus jitter. So at night it ain't worth s**t. Local hubs that are over loaded won't be upgraded until 2013.

Welcome to world of Sky Broadband DLM

As with all DSL connections, the further the distance from the DSLAM (usually located at the telephone exchange) the customer site is, the slower the line speed will be. Sky use DLM (Dynamic Line Management) over the first 10 days of a new connection to set the line at an acceptable downstream and upstream speed in order for the connection to remain stable.
Lines are initially connected at 4Mbit/s and gradually increased over the 10 day "training period" until the line shows signs of instability, this allows Sky to know what speeds the line can handle whilst remaining stable.

DLM pretty much just ups your speed limit till it is unstable then keeps it at a stable rate, DLM IS BULLSH1T when i was with them it capped me at 13mb a sec when i knew full well i was capable of 16mb i called them and said f**k your DLM i want 16mb and he went no problem all sorted

If i was on Virgin i'd be getting around 90-110mbps apparantely, because there's a Virgin wire running underneath the pavement where i live, but i live in a shared house and the landlady didn't want to change to virgin, so i got stuck with talktalk, not that im complaining because 30+mbps is a hell of a lot better then 2.5 heh

Hm, i'm on that too... 8MB is fair play I suppose, but still wish I got more Razz mine was on 4MB until I asked them what was up and they said "Oh yeah we have to put you on our gaming account" just to make it up to 8MB, I was like wtf is the point xD
