i think RK is an absolute hero, single handed brought journalism back from the 'all the journo's in a hotel' syndrome that had pervaded the profession of the last 2 decades and shamed them into getting back into the thick of it. (i am talking generally of course so don't flame me with the odd exception please)

think about various African conflicts of the past 20 years and contrast that with the coverage of Libya for example, and i strongly believe that is in a large part down to RK, i think he (after all a soap star !!!) got out there (Afghan) and did some really good old fashioned journalism, he won awards for it and i think got the rest of the profession to think about themselves.

i know he got a lot of respect from British armed forces for doing those series and if you've watched them i think you can see why.

his series on gangs is also worth a view.

all this from a 'soap star'.....who knew !!
