Mofuckin BT Internet
So you may have realised I haven't played a good game of PR in around . . . 3 months, I was going to start playing again, however, my ballsack of an internet sucks.
I would have speeds of 4.6 MB/S and now it's around 0.44 MB/S. What the fwack?!
We've contacted BT, got a new router, they've done tests on our lines and said everythings good. They've been laying fibre-optic down the road (which I won't be able to enjoy because I'm moving) however on there websites it said there were no disturbances here, and my momma has told them countless times that there was some digging up down the road (Which may or may NOT be the problem)
If I have to many browsers open (porn), or to many people in the house are using internet .. .it will just disconnect and I have to wait 5minutes before it restarts back up again.
Anyone have any ideas before momma bear spazzes out at BT when she calls them tomorrow?
It's been happening since December 18th and I live in Iver (if anyone could locate any fibre optic laying in my area. . .)

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
I would check so no one is using your internet, if you have wireless router.
I had that problem. so I changed the password on my wireless and I have no problem now.

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
like vince said. if every computer have the same problem it could be your router but I doubt it because you have a brand new router.
But if its only you it could be virus (that virus scan wont find most likely),
update router firmware is the last thing I would do, it could destroy your router so you have to get a new one.
I would go on Virus or the digging guys fucked a cable up.

Everything internet device in the house is slow. 2-3 Laptops, home computer, and a Ipad. Sheitty dicks.
I believe they switched everything.
Running a Norton scan on the main computer (advise something else?)

I think it has something to do with your plate on the main wall socket for internet connection in your home.
Tell BT about that.

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
If it's on all 3 pc's in the house I wouldn't worry too much about viruses.
Go into your router setup screen and see what the SnR is on your line (signal to noise ratio).
Finding out the SnR will tell you if it's a physical problem or not. You can further isolate it from there onwards.
Is the neighbours' working ok?
And how many more months left on your contract?

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
Find a way to get into the router Setup Interface, Google the model and find out how to get the Setup screen up (you can get there from Netword Devices somehow as well).
There should be a section showing/telling you the SnR.
Just google BT Router Interface IP or something similar.. It'll use an IP address similar to 192.168.2.1.
You will feel like you have hacked into the Matrix .
Edit: If it's the BT Home Hub the IP might be 192.168.1.254., just paste it into the address bar. Use Google to compare SnR's.
I suppose in theory you could also test for dropped packets on speedtest.net type websites, presumably in theory if you had a bad line they would get lost. But i'm f**ked if I know what i'm on about any more, tell us the SnR number matey.

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
Usually default gateways are set to 192.168.1.1 .. You can find it out quite easily by going to start > typ cmd & press enter > type 'ipconfig' and press enter > look at the displayed information, search for 'Default gateway .... [ip adress] (usually something similar to 192.168.1.1)'.
Type that adress into your browser, and depending on wether you have a username and password set up on your router you will have to enter those (standard usernames and password can usually be found online, just search for your router name and model and look for its username and password), after doing that you'll get access to your router (usually anyways)

Haha well I do admit that I've had troubles in the past with routers, but I also follow an education about this kind of stuff. This is just basics for me really ;P (The more difficult stuff is setting up cisco switches and routers with protocols and all that kind of stuff, but I don't want to bore you ) + My education gives "helpdesk".. more or less, not that I learned how to "fix" a router there though (I still have problems with strict/moderate NATs etc.), that just comes with the years when you follow an IT education
/bore

Re: Mofuckin BT Internet
you could try to ping your router via cmd.
that way you will see if it is your router or something else.

In addition to that you might want to use the 'Tracert' command, it is the same as a ping command but the difference is that it shows you the route it takes (and thus you might get an indication where you signal fails).
Oh and btw. the adress of your router is the default gateway (what I talked about earlier)
