About enforcing server rule n.1

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY RACISM, ABUSE OR EXTREME LANGUAGE
Any form of racism or abuse will dealt with quickly and harshly. And will most likely result in a ban.
All bans can be appealed in the proper part of our forum. All appeals will be considered however not all bans will be lifted.

According to this rule racism and abuse are equal. Well, in practice when you say "Lol, nwa also means *insert rap group*" you are instapermabanned. However if you call someone "fu**ing idiot" your maximum penalty is usually temp ban.

I dont see any logic in this. If you mention name of that rap group that haves racistic word in its name(they actyally did anti-racism songs) you get permabenned but calling someone "fu**ing idiot" can only lead to kick. I beleave that the later will cause a lot more harm than just mentioning name of rap group that haves racistic word in its name.

I think that something should be done about this.

the use of racism, sexism, or the airing of extreme views using extreme language will most likely be done from a premeditated stand point.
this will never be acceptable behaviour on our servers or our web site.

calling some one a name because you're not happy with them is a reaction that is seldom premeditated, however as you have pointed out it is still something we try to deal with by kicking and temp banning.
when a player habitually uses aggressive language in reaction to other players then they can expect to be permanently banned from our servers, and i can personally remember at least 3 people who are never getting unbanned precisely because of this situation which means your original premise is wrong on both counts.

Also we use a bad word filter and the N is in that, thus the server automates the ban.

Not to mention that making fun of the clan who hosts the server isn't exactly going to make you beloved.

He does have a point.. I'm no defender of racism but it has been known that people ask what 'NwA' stands for .. It was the risk that was taken when the name was chosen!

Although appealing a ban isn't necessarily a bad thing, we either lose a dickhead that can't be arsed to appeal or we end up with a very conscientious (and afraid of permaban) player that plays by the rules.

I remember wondering what NwA meant, I think I kept my trap shut until I read it though.

It doesn't take a brainiac to no the clan would never be called the rap group! only a dumbarse/smartarse would ask the Q.

The rules are clear and 100% correct! no changes needed in my eyes.

If a player types in racist remarks in anyway they are met with the full wrath of an admins power! - if a player is being abusive to others in game ( he should be spoken to about his attitude and given a warning )

lot of people talked about this one, cause a lot of people were there when the dude got banned for saying that bands name.

Express yourself! anyway, racism will never end until someone doesn't react to a free mans words. In a sense and my mind racism is reduced to words and words can be said freely by anyone with a mouth born on this green earth. (imo) Personally racism will never end until the oppose choose to not react to the foe. Yeah this will never happen because not all can comprehend such a concept. Some may say yes there is blatant racism in the world and yeah, but if it's not directly harming you physically then giving a bit about it just perpetuates it's meaning.

Defend yourself, but words are words and they should be treated as such. (Creative interpreted pronunciations) which is simplified freedom of speech.

We could write thousands of essays on the subject, and I do believe there have been thousands already. The simple fact of the matter is that in the spirit of keeping everything nice and friendly on our server, any form of abuse will not be tolerated.

Be it racism, discrimination or name-calling it won't get you far on the *NwA* servers.

Not that I don't agree that people need to stop taking words directly to the heart, but that's not up for discussion here, is it.


If you take the literal meaning of discrimination, which is this;

everyone is being discriminated, every single day.

If I would apply to be a new member of some big football club like Manchester United or whichever club floats your boat, they'd laugh at me in the face without saying anything. I would not fit into the category of people they see fit to be part of their selection. That, by the very definition of the word, would be discrimination. And I'm sure you can think of many other scenario's to which this applies.

Would I now have to go to court and say they are discriminating me? They'd also laugh at my face without saying anything!

Anyhow, this kind of behavior is never going to stop, but we can at least make sure everyone has a pleasant stay on our servers, free from hate/smack-talking just because people are on the internet.
