To Ipad or to Andriod, that is the question.

Im considering buying an tablet. Either the Ipad or the Galaxy tab 10.1

Pro on the Ipad.
Tons of apps.
Streamlined OS

Cons:
Tons of restrictions.
No way to add files to ipad without itunes
Limited file recognition ie, cant read word files etc
Limited access to the storage.

It is possible to jailbreak the ipad to get more under the hood access, such as Ifile, a program like explorer so I can download files to the ipad, instead of having them in the cloud.

Galaxy
Pro:
way more possibilities to access storage.
recognizes more files types
More freedom in how to set it up

Cons:'
OS still has problems
Fewer aps


Suggestions?

Who tells you that Android still has problems? If anything android has more apps on the phone (because there aren't so many restrictions and it's easier to make if i'm right). If Apple has more apps, that will change the upcoming years.

I'd take android any day, among one of the reasons being that apple is way too expensive for what they offer, and their service sucks hard.

that's a good question Jev, my wife has a iphone, macbook pro and today she recived an iPad2 she won at work.

I have a Hp touch pad from when they was sold off. I have since hacked it and install android. So can dual boot either Hp's webOS and android.

Which would I have if I had to choose.

iPad holds its value and is nice to handle and is built solid. Apps are plentiful and work.
Android is constantly being updated and is as you know a lot more configurable, The main thing i use it for is music, videos, email and browsing. The remote desktop apps and being able to transfer files via wifi is awesome. Media streaming from my NAS via DNLA is easy as iPad only do mpeg4 apple video format. So any avi's or divx you have to re-encode first or transcode on the fly. Also the android dose flash.

There are apps for both machines that cover any thing you could possibly need but there is some thing about apple that is restrictive even though its not.

If its office or peer image your bothered about go iPad, if you like to tweak and fiddle knowing you can if you want then go android.

That's about it from using both products.

Something I really need as an app is Camera raw Conversion.
On the Ipad there is Snapseed. I have not seen anything like on Android.

I'd go for android, the Ipad does not support flash in browsers and generally app's are cheaper/free in comparison to Ipad.

But, iPad apps are generally superior quality, and flash isn't needed anymore, search HTML5.

If I go Ipad, im gonna jailbreak it, and then it can run flash.

trying to quote your post about jail breaking it and adding.

If you don't mind jail breaking it then I'd say iPad. Check about warranty though. If you jailbreak it then try to reinstall ios5 apple still know its been jailbroke and won't fix it.

But in that situation you just drop it down he stairs and get a new one off your home insurance. Cannot tell if its been jail broken if they cannot turn it on.

Ive gotten the Galaxy 10.1

I just cant stand the restrictions of the Ipad. Both in regards to access, but also flash, content, what kind of files it can handle etc.

I know the OS is better in the Ipad, I can only hope that future Android OS will improve over time.
