dont think its gonna be inet.
Turn off any programs you dont need running like xfire. apps can really fuck your gameplay. or it could be your hardware failing *sadface*

Re: bf2 freeze
Dose it give connection problem in bf2 or dose it just lockup the hole pc.
If its a lock up turn down the g-fix settings and see if it works longer before the lock up. If it dose then id say g-fix over heat

Re: bf2 freeze
Ive been getting connection issues especially last night got kick twice cos of it. Try a diffeent server.
Also even though the gfix card is new dont meean it cannot over heat. Take the side of the case of next time you game and let a bit more air in see if it helps.

Re: bf2 freeze
it sounds memory related.
Whether it is system memory or GFX memory I dont know.
I had a similar prob that only occured while playing PR. I have since re-formatted and it went away.

Re: bf2 freeze
As a systems administrator, my advice would be the following.
Based on the fact that I have no idea what O/S or system you are currently running.
Software related.
Indexing
If you are currently running Vista as an os, It may be indexing while you are playing.
A simple sign of indexing, is that your hard drives are constantly grinding.
Indexing in away is the maintainence of your file structure, It enables faster searching etc.
To turn off or to adjust this feature please follow these steps.
There are three ways to handle this:
1. Navigate to Control Panel, choose “Uninstall a Program” under “Programs”
and then click on “Turn Windows features on or off“. There you can disable
the Indexing Service.
2. It is also possible to disable indexing for a certain drive or enable it
only for selected folders. You can do this by changing the Properties of a
drive or folder (right click on drive letter in Windows Explorer).
3. The fasted way is to simply disable the Windows Search service. Run
Services (just type “Services” at the Start Search bar), right click on the
Windows Search service and select “Properties”. Then choose “Disabled” for
the start type. Afterwards, you have to stop this service by right clicking
on it and selecting “Stop”.
Defrag
Make sure the system is not trying to defrag while playing games. In most cases this is scheduled to run at certain times\days of the week.
Antivirus
As a temp measure while playing, I disable the antivirus, as these constantly scan the files.
Dont worry about disabling.
Applications
As other people have suggested, only run with minimal applications open.
Turn off any application that is not needed while playing.
Hardware related.
Graphics
Im not sure what gpu you are running? Can you please provide information.
Graphics set too high will produce lagg depending upon the card you are using.
Ram
Bf2 makes use of a large portion of the system ram, If you are running Vista with 2gb of ram you will struggle, And may often see slight pauses in gameplay.
Options would be to increase to 4gb of ram or increase system pagefile.
Ping
Now lag isn't just caused by bad pings. Lag has become a generic tag for many problems in multiplayer games. You can break lag into three main categories:
Bad ping - Latency cause by a slow connection to the game server.
Server Lag - You may notice on server that has a good ping you may stutter or not feel in sync. This can be caused by poor hardware performance by the server and it can't keep up with the player load or other players with high pings are also on the server causing latency problems.
System Lag - This is your computer, which is causing the problem. This can be caused by many factors. The most common is not enough RAM, but not enough video card memory or a CPU that is not up to the job can cause lag. So your receiving data from the game server just fine but it is not being processed on your end for whatever reason fast enough. This can cause hiccups, stuttering and a slew of other problems.
Solutions:
First of all broadband connection is essential to cutting down on lag.
Second make sure your hardware is up to the task:
A gigabyte of ram will cut your stutters and hiccups down. 1.5 gigs is probably the sweet spot for/price performance. The more RAM though the better the performance. This can also greatly cut down on verifying client data times.
Video card memory: It's recommended you have at least 256 mb of video card memory.
Processor power can be a factor but not as much as the others. A decent processor with over 2.0 ghz will run battlefield just fine (multiplayer just fine single player requires more cpu power for the AI). This is if you don't have any other applications running in the background.
If your system stalls or freezes up you can have problems with other things such as ad-ware, viruses, etc
If you still have further issues then please add me to xfire rogue474
Regards,
Paul.
