New US Spec Ops Helo???!
A little extra tit-bit left un-noticed by the popular press, is the details of the crash of one of the helo's used in the Bin Laden raid.
Initially reported as being a UH-60 Blackhawk, pictures are now surfacing of the remaining tail boom.
Doesn't look like a Blackhawk to me...
Acompanying story...

Nope. The Comanche has a Fenestron tail rotar, its inset into the tail structure. The one pictured is a "standard" configuration.

Hmm...looks like stealth. Maybe thats why pakistan AA didn`t notice them.
Who knows?

tarra might be onto something there
or extra armour (the rotor centre plate)
the whole thing in that pic is upside down but has BH configuration, however the gearbox cover isn't standard BH, so like tarra says possiblt stealth ?
speeeed

The tail rotor head is on a difference side than a UH-60.
Reports, including Aviation week, are pointing towards this being an accidental unveiling of a new aircraft. Awsome.

Apparantly, the main fuselage came down in the compound. The tail however settled on the other side of the wall. Hence the reason its intact, they weren't able to Phoss it from their side.
They've used the stealthy helo's to avoid Pakistani Radar, the rotor head being completely silent. There's reports of eyewitness' seeing a flight of heli's in the last two weeks. Two of which we're silent running, its presumed these we're the aircraft practicing the raid. Bion Laden didn't know they we're coming till the rounds started flying!

Very cool, modified stealth blackhawk. I imagine there was a ton of radar jamming and stuff done by the US as well

Re: New US Spec Ops Helo???!
Yep look like radar deflection and also armour. The soother and less angles you have on a shape the less radar signals get "bounced back" to the radar dish. Hence the stealth bomber is very flat from the underneath and the tail sits inside its own profile when looked at bottom up.
This helo has radar absorbing coating and deflection.
Just so you know what radar tech can do and you never heard this of me.
The US Navy anti-Submarine sonar helicopters have a system that runs around the whole fusalarge of tiny wires. A charge is sent down the wires and pulses. Causing any radar beams that hits it to be either amplified or weakend. So you can go into the jamming computer and tell your Heli that is hovering over the ocean looking for submerged subs that you are a 747 flying at 33,000 ft. Any thing picking you up on radar will see a 747 or a fishing boat or even a 50,000tonne oil tanker if its a surface radar.
The problem with stealth there is nothing trulley stealthy so development has gone into making you look like some thing your not. You will alway leave a electronic sig a heat sig etc etc But every thing can be masked and manipulated. So hide as much as you can then your radar sig is easier to manipulate.
If missiles can do 200miles to target and the MK1 eye ball can do 30 miles to the horizen would you shoot at a oil tanker?

Re: New US Spec Ops Helo???!
the rotor is on the correct side for a BH the piece in the photo is upside down the tail plane is to the top which would place the tail rotor on the starboard side ala BH unless im being extra daft

Do you know what, I think your right. I miss interpreted the angle of the tail.
Nice one.

Awesome. Little conspiracy-y but there's actual real evidence here. Very interesting to see what it really was/is.
