PR coming to Arma 2
thats right, PR has announced plans to do an ARMA II version - persopnally i can't wait arma 2 gives it a much better standing point and realism should be really good, plus alot of things like the weapons are already textured and out there availiable so i guess it should progress at a quicker rate than BF did, i guess we shall have to wait and see

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
Gonna give it a try I think. Think I'm turning into a hardcore PR fan, the teamplay the devs install into the mods are unbeaten! I'm told the interface is more complicated than the BF model. I notice from the trailer that you can blow holes in walls for example. You gotta love explosive entry! yEaH!

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
Bought it last week played it for 1 hour and had to keep on repeating the training mission. most buggy assed fuked game ive ever played.
I do here that the modders have sorted alot of the bugs so I hope the PR mini mod is better to interact with then the basic game.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
Arma was bugged to hell, to the point where my rig was pushing so hard screen was blurred and nothing worked, however there's lots and lots of patchs that get it upto date and working fine

Latest news has been published by the Dev team. AI civies will be included, which can be utilised by the Insurgent force for cover. Cool! should add a powerful dynamic on the battlefield.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
A bit late for the party.
I've played OPF and Arma. And some Arma 2.
My question is: Will it be anywhere similar to PR?
Big question is: Team play and tactics, is it implemented by the people? Or is rambo style players or clan members going in squads and not coordinating with rest of team common?
Are large maps utilized in multiplayer or is it more 8v8 kinda of servers?
Are squads easily formed and used?
Communication is a bit complicated but works. I guess
Assets: Are they mostly used wisely or a lot of soloing?
I realized that the answers to these questions are very subjective. But compared to PR....?
Any and answers are appreciated.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
The question should be, how does the modern warfare look like?
Remeber that arma 2 is in fact a mod for Real Virtuality 2 engine. Lets wait for pr devs to work more with vbs2 (Virtual Battlespace 2) and see how close they can get engine/mechanic to that picture. For now in my opinion bf2pr offers better content than stand alone arma 2 or its expansion but possibilities are great.
I wouldn't be that surprised if serious work on the project won't start till 1.0 is reached but who am I to know that.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
I think that, if this gets released, it will be far more complicated then PR in BF2. For example, black-outs don't happen in BF2 if you are pulling lots of G's in a plane or chopper.
Also, fastropes, explosive entries and flashbangs ftw!

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
Adding black-out doesn't really complicate things, it's a pretty normal feature in most flight sims.
I do hope there won't be too many extra buttons and fiddly things to get used to though.

The point is though that PR are doing a mod for it so the gameplay will be however they design it.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
I'm psyched.
Situational awareness is gonna be key I think.
With the map sizes being what they are, team play is gonna be essential (and fun as hell).
Hopefully they'll do a good job.
By the way, didn't they something about a release in October? (at the earliest, I know). I haven't seen any news recently.

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
arma 2? biggest bollocks ever occured to me.... dual monitor and dual KB for all keys u have to press in order to be able to scratch your arse without being wounded. graphics sux...efect even more..BF2:PR beats the s**t out of arma 2 on effect chapter and pr in based on a 5 yo engine... difference between bf2:pr and arma 2? first is focused on fun AND gameplay,or teamplay to be more specific. ARMA 2 is the jihad of damm teamplay...its radical and erases all fun replacing it with frustration. ARMA 2 ended in rubbish bin after 2 months trying to play it in a nice way. cost me 25 quid. could have a pint in camden saturday on this ammount. bollocks again

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
yes yes we already know that some people hate it. Just like I hated BF2 before PR.
I've heard/read it hundreds of times before.
I still think PR can do wonders for arma2

Re: PR coming to Arma 2
Arma 2 is based on the engine of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, which I enjoyed more then any game for several years, it's a war simulating game, more realistic then any game was close to realism. Arma and Arma 2 was made based on that (Like Vanilla for PR). Arma2 is designed to give special effects and good teamwork, but when it comes to CQB and a gunfight for your lives t will totally suck.
I remember on Flashpoint, when you shot a guy to death, before he would die he would pull the trigger on auto that would spray the s**t out of the place (In CQB) which resulted in a two death. He would shoot you just before dieing him self, and you would die too.
