strange format adds on msn

Hi guys,

might be nothing, might be something bad. I´m just posting it here to ask if someone else encountered it or warn it might be something bad


like most people i have a couple of email addresses, you know, one for registering and stuff and one to add people too for msn, so ocassionaly i log in on them with msn messenger, first i had on one of them this person that tried to add me GailRathmell0637@hotmail.com two days later i login on another email address thats in no way associated and this person called LeahRose0637@hotmail.com sent me an add request.

does that look familiar to you. its exactly the same format. i dont know anyone with those names. after a while there also appeared a personal message under `gail´ s email adress with a tinyurl link in it. which i didnt click because you never know ehehe.

SO i was saying, might be something bad. cant find anything about this one format on the internet though.

just to be sure i removed and blocked them.

my advice is if you dont know them then dont add them its not worth it, hope I helped

any names like that, even in games, are normally bots, hackers or general nae'gooders

Now that I remember it I do believe that Fatal mention something about fake friend requests intentioned on infecting and hacking a persons computer. So you might want to ask him if he knows anything more in depth and I just hope I didn't remember to late.

General rule of thumb is don't add those on msn who you don't know, I do sometimes add people anyway but demand an immediate explaination of who they are, should they fail this or don't reply with in a couple of days I'll remove them if I am unsatisfied, furthermore its worth noting that to the best of my knowledge you can only get malware off them from either doing a file transfer or clicking on bad links they send (like that tinyurl link).

As to that last part Snippers, I read up on some of it and that seems to be the case. Most people said they were sent/clicked links and got a virus. So it sounds like you should be okay miffy. Also the personal message was probably worded in such a way to catch the targets interest so that a less aware/ knowledgeable person would have clicked the link and probably contract a virus.
