New AAS Map Layout.

The current AAS map list favors asset whores, the people that give AAS a bad name, especially the inclusions of such maps as Yamalhia and Kashan at prime playing times during the evening when our server is most populated.

Could we please change it? Muttrah, Op. Barracuda, Shija, Burning Sands, Black Gold, Dragon Fly, Operation Marlin (even tho ins. it's bad ass), Etc.


We need to have maps that favour a FEW assets, a tank/trans/apc squad, but with more room for infantry.

Let me know what ya think.

I suggest we take this further.

I propose we trial a No assets Friday. :) ?

Only create a map list for inf based combat and light vehicles.

theres are all asset orientated maps and you will find them all in the map list there are 4 different maplists as previously posted mind viewing http://nwa-clan.darkbb.com/t5713-aas-maplist-mayhem-rant as you can see all but vadso whitch crashed our server are on there

i will be happy to send you maplist text to create a maplist and will get to work on a no assets maplist for fridays if this is wantted to be trialed :)

this is not a rant lads i want the input to better the map lists

Well, what you are doing is taking all the CAS maps away and putting INF focused olny maps. Let's leave it like it is when it is random, sometimes there are days with maps like mestia and fools all the time, and sometimes there are days with more than 1 jet maps

And this is why we can't have nice things.

Everyone's always ever bitching about it. We can't please anyone, ever.

If we pick an infantry biased maplist, the asset people will complain and leave because there's no assets for them to use. If we pick an asset biased maplist, the infantry people will complain because there is no fun in doing an infantry squad whilst getting raped by 6 choppers, 3 airplanes, 17 tanks, 9741897 APCs and getting run over by HMMWV's.


Now, if you want some general advise, take this:

1: There is more to making a maplist than randomly putting the maps in you want.

1a: You need a proper seeding map, otherwise the server won't get running quick enough.
1b: There's only a small gap of 'prime time' when most people can play (usually). Think about when this prime time is in your maplist, and make sure that no matter how diverse the maplists are at the start and end, it's the prime time maps that get played the most. They can be repetitive if it's always Kashan Assetwhoring or Silent Eagle somewhere in the middle.

2: There are just some maps that won't run well. No matter if people say "It's never played, omg, put it in the list!!", if it crashes/empties the server, just forget about it.

lol nix... although is true
EVERY map has assets...except with skirmish layout...
And on the maps we have, and considering PR is moving TOWARDS 4 km maps, i surprised that you are unhappy about ppl using assets, which were placed there for the gameplay .
Whoring...listen...i rather prefer to have an tank whore manning the tanks (at least he knows what he's doing)than a newbie that loses all tanks and ME(the infantry guy) gets raped by nme tanks; well..unfortunately we all know, there are some asset whore who play only for kills and forget the team, blah blah, and then is when the spas attack begins.

Point being, I am against a "Low/no asset" maplist only; as for myself, my only training apart from grunt, is crewman...when I'm tired of running around, next map I got into an APC and use the big boom stick.
We should rotate the maps to make happy MOST of all...everyone is impossible
An event can be organized, see whats the outcome.

There's nothing wrong with assets but when 5+ of the squads are for them they impede gameplay. Burning Sands ia a great map to show how it can be valanced because there is usually 2+ great, full mumble squads duking it out for city.



No, you cant always please everyone, and Id argue that we shouldnt please asset whores because rarely are they used in a great way.

I don't think asset whores know how to handle the asset. They just want to use it because they find it fun and often end up losing it because they do reckless things with them. Just like Rob says.

Anyway, yes. Maps with lots of assets often cause 5, 6 or 7 squads, solely for assets. This doesn't leave much room for infantry squads. Then again, 2 should be enough, right?

first off all it uncanny for there to be 5-6 sqds for assets havent seen this on nwa aas server. All u need is 1 decent SL for an asset sqd pubber/nwa dont matter and the rest 5 members will follow.

and if the sl is incompitent than !resign due to asset waste etc rule.

The problem is, that while I agree that good squadleaders are a requirement for an asset squad, it does start the whining in-game and on forums about *NwA* hogging all the assets and not giving pubbers a chance. It's a fine balance that must be maintained, sadly.

burning sands is an asset whores dream rob have u played it lol? you have 5 tanks eatch team 2x apc 1x aav 1x ifv (British get scout tank) (mec get tow mtlb plus 40mil mtlb) British get 2x Chinook and one lynx mec get 2x cows
British get ah-64 and mec get havoc

if all assets are used u have 22-25 men in assets

this not a rant i just think Rob is a asset whore in hiding lol

TO be totally honest i don't find anything wrong with the big maps, indeed some of my best games have been on them. The only problem is that assets need to be handled correctly, and need to co-operate which is when we come back to asset SL with mumble having preference ocer non mublers, cos if your APC/Trans sq is not in mumble then the infantry are f***ed regarding transport, the tanks and CAS have their own private battles and the infantry can never get anywhere quick enough.

AAS with lots of assets just requires teamwork, co-operation and friendly competition, the three things we are meant to be about as a clan.

PS midget the MEC get 2xBTR and 2xBMP, plus TOW and 30mm MTLB which is 5 apcs and an AT vehicle, i think the brits get 4 Warrior APCs and 2 Scimitar recon vehicles...

AAS Server -> MIXED MODS SERVER V, and that if you wanna keep the 2nd server. Untie the knot by cutting it...we're getting nowhere like this. We can argue endlessly about know hows here and how to's and crap, but in the field everything is rumbling to the ground in couple of days.

meh i'm gona agree to disagree, i love the big maps, have good rounds on them and have fun, it doesnt always work out and yes you very rarely have everything working out all round every round, but hey irl when do two 6 man squad have 4 tanks, 4 apcs and 2 recon vehicles plus cas and trans choppers at their disposal???
