HD 4870X2
So I've been looking around at getting a new graphics card (I have a 4870 1GB), and the old 4870X2 2Gb still seem to be a good card, plus I can run it in crossfire with my current single 4870 to get 3 way crossfire (apparently according to various reviews). The reason for the old card is that they are only like £100 and relatively good when compared to other cards at £100. Anyone got any other observations/opinions/other options?????

What are you planning to use it for, and why not sell your current one and use that money plus the £100 you have set aside to run a single, newer generation card?
Keep it simple and all that. The newer generation will probs be jsut as fast, plus it'll use less power and give ya less problems than crossfire might.

well I can probably get £50-£80 for mine so lets say £180 total, and there is nothing that compares to a non crossfire 4870X2 2GB, the nearest comparable card is the 5970 which are like £280.

Ah right, sorry, I missed that it was a 4870x2. Thought you were crossfiring two 4870's. Unless i'm getting all mixed up.

well i can use either one 4870X2 2Gb or crossfire it with my currect 4870 1Gb (normal not X2) to get 3way (3 GPU's) crossfire

Although you can play the waiting game forever with tech.. Seriously, I'd wait just a little while longer!
Kepler is coming soonish, as is AMD's Island shitty name stuff too, even if those newer cards are out of your price range, the "older" gens will be coming down again in price I'd assume. But eitherway, I didn't know you could go tri-fire with a 2x and a 1x GPU card? At least, Nvidia's don't work that way (Can't use the 2win cards anyway for multi-gpu) unless I'm just spouting and speculating, as per usual
