Look like mine (aka nice). Looks an aweful lot like Fractal Design? I have the Define R3 and It's good but I'd rather have more space around PCI-E slots so I can get another graphics card without being too close to the PSU (which is at the buttom)

Seeing from the triplechannel memory at the mobo, it's an 'old' i7-900 (I'm guessing the 950 or 980) series CPU.

ill update my xfire to show the rig , but yes basicly orford designed it for me from pcspecialist.co.uk came last week . All the bast stuff they had, i like the solid state hd it loads up quicker than lollybadcock gets the off....

I suppose you know of a better CPU than an i7-980 extreme eddition running on 1800mhz 12gb of tripple channel ram. With 2 x nvidia 590gtx pre overclocked. With a 120gb sata III 6gb/s solid state drive. 1tb 10,000 rpm 64meg cache data drive.

I'll let you off Nixy, just cos you see triple channel memory don't mean its old. Again your reading to many magazines and web sites. The intel 2500 and 2600 we brought to market cos they are cheeper more atractive to low end PC makers like Dell etc due to using less electric to run and having built in GPU. Also intel made them for the next gen of Apple macs. That's why the PC enthusiast has to overclock the bollocks of them.

could of gone for the i7 2600k but not as fast as the extreme. Would of bottle necked the graphics as the built in gpu cannot turn off the texture side only the graphics out put. Plus the Ex-eddition handles the memiry better. The only thing the i7-k has is overclocking and kop don't know how to do that. Given that a lot of i7 at 4.5ghz are burning out already I didn't see the point.

Boots up faster than a bird can drop her knickers, I rest my case Kop is happy with his monster.


next step is full water cooling but given that kop will be buying a new pc about march time I didn't think it was worth it.

Although the 980X is a 6 core beast.. I'd still rather take an i5 2500k or a i7 2600k simply because it's sandy, and you're going to get Ivy bridge on the same chip.. But that's just me being scrimpy and futureproofing. Cracking rig kop.. I'd just laugh to see you attempt to overclock via bios

although this was orderd a while ago, one could wait and wait for the next chip after next. One day you just have to buy and stop waiting. When a guy comes to you and says build the best rig you can for x amount. You just go shopping not tell them wait a month cos xyz is coming out. Kops a happy chappy.

As for overclocking I don't think that's an issue ;-)

Let's not talk about PLL overvoltage, BLCK, and frequencies then! With that kind of power anyway, You don't need the overclock as the original results will be more than plenty. You've effectively got 4 GTX 570's in that rig, You better get your fair share of usage out of it or I'm coming with my "Swag" bag, Balaclava and striped jumper.

Lovely rig trying to update for BF3 so far i have a gtx 580 cost around £300 i can get a i5 2500k, corsair memory and a corsair H100 cooler for around £285 trouble is if i get them home and somit is duff i cannot RMA it. I have BF3 but not had much chance to play so don't know my way around browser system..how do i join your server once i load multyplayer : yep keep one under my bed as well
