Mumble Mistake~!~

Yea just now on the mixed server on Kashan desert i was playing a good round talking with my squad and all sorts.

We were holding our own little bit of the sand when a tank rolled right on top of us! we're trying to hit the dirt and talk on mumble to get organised when suddenly the tank started talking back....

You can imagine my confusion... so i call the tank in over squad leader mumble, give its grid and what its doing only to be met with.... "yea thats our tank... why are you flapping?".

It hits me.... Myself and my entire squad have been on the wrong mumble team for 40 mins ingame with out knowing it!! Orford was very nice to point out to me that i should swap over and with my tail tucked between my legs i took my squad over to the correct mumble chat... only to be killed within mins!

Ah the wonders of MUMBLE in the hands of simple folk!

Haha trash, I really miss the one mumble channel man. those good old bully the bluefor as civi things :P

Play PR:A2 then. It has one channel communication..

Me and orford almost got into a fight about this.

It's a marmite situation with mumble, for now, it is what is and we have to roll with it.

Ha, I remember on Burning Sands one time I was in the NE mining town (near the plane crash)
I got hit and wounded inside one of the houses. The enemy BTR who shot us pulled up not far away. I head the driver ask the gunnner "Hey gunner, you on mumble?" A few seconds passed with no response so I figured no he isn't, but I am! So I answered him acting like I was his gunner. It's some time ago so I don't remember exactly what was said but I do remember fooling him into driving straight towards 2 of our tanks getting him killed! Oh I was laughing my butt off when he drove away and not 2 min later I hear a far away explosion and a tanker write up "BTR down".

I wish they had a separate push to talk assigned to both teams. whispering 'behiiiinnnd you' to that civie your about to punch in the back of the head would make my evenings.

ffs Thrash, I was like can every one stfu I know that voice and its thrashers he aint leader of squad 9. We have 2 guys in sl mumble saying they are sl of squad 9 and thrashers aint on the MEC he is USMC.



I couldnt belive no one else picked up on it. I guess they dont have very good situation awarness or can`t listen to mumble sl, squad VOIP, laze for CAS and guid mortart on to north viallage while telling Thrasher to f*k off on to the correct mumble channel. Thing was I was calling in supplies to the trans heli squad all round to fob locations and thrasher never picked up that the fobs the supplies were going to wernt on his map.





I did LOL a little when it was all over, no harm dont simple mistake to make.

your totaly right! the only thing i picked up on was why was my team calling the cobra a havoc????....... no idea, did not clock on at all.... well not just me but 5 others and all! haha!!

yea sorry again tho, i'll make sure i pay double attention next time to the mumble teams! (i blame hardcore swim training)

i hear incorrect helicopter recognition, confussion over kit recognition and incorrect armour recognition all the time.

my wish for mumble would be that it could automatically link the player to server and then to the team in future, and in even further future could link you to your squad. that would be golden.

also, anyone think that abuse of the mumble system is on the rise ? just getting hints of it here and there but maybe thats me ?

Yup!

Dunno when the next mumble build is coming out but it's far from perfect

Mind you that said, mumble has changed the way I perceive team gameplay

Mumble is Amazin all games should use it!

That should all come in next pr-mumble version ( ofcorse they are all rumors but )... What i'v heared is, that the pr-mumble automaticly throws you to right mumble channel (server and team ) when you join to any server. + numpad 1-9 to speak squadleader in positions 1-9... Also heared that the new pr-mumble version is actually pretty much done... Yeah well, rumors rumors... But those would be rly nice

I have heard the same rumors, except for the 'almost finished' part. I have heard on the other hand that it will be released with the next big PR release.. but that could take up to another year.. Then again.. speculations and all that jazz.

I suppose I do miss playing psychological games with my prey, I would get my squad to hide in a circle around the enemy, and wail like ghosts whilst I ran around delivering messages of their demise.



It made it so much easier, but I suppose now actually having to do the job makes for a much more alert squad for myself as well as a more active team movement - getting to flags faster without having to confuse the enemy into defeat.

You should get moved to the root channel when closing the game.
You should get moved automatically when joining squads, teams, etc.
Local speech: default H (can be changed in the audio wizard)
Squad radio: Numpad 0 (like BF2 voip B)
Squad Leader radio to Commander: Numpad / (like BF2 voip V)
Squad Leader radio to other Squad Leader: Numpad 1-9 (SLs can only talk to other specific SLs)
Commander radio to all Squad Leaders: Numpad * (like BF2 voip V when Commander)
Commander radio to specific Squad Leader: Numpad 1-9 (same as SL to SL)
