arma2 - noob guide required

ok, so i got this game... now what? seems like so many add ons to be had! what do i need?

Your gonna need to get the addon updater thing called sixupdater. This basically is how you control your addons by updating and downloading them. From there you can download addons like ACE, ACEX and loads of others which im sure we can go into detail for if you want. And then to launch addons of steam you put a mod line which is like mod=@(and then watever mod)ACE,ACEX. However if its non steam I dont know how to launch without mods.

erm yeah, thanks guys. still a bit confused. so I need the arrowhead expansion pack? any other packs I need? Do you guys play mods of these expansion packs then?

you don't need OA to enjoy arma2 but it is highly recommended. Most of us have it, and when we play together we use the maps in OA. Most servers run Combined ops (A2+OA) and ArmA:PR will require Combined ops to run.

The other two DLC packs aren't required. You can still play with people that have them.

With mods, we all sync to the United Operations server (see the guide) so we can be sure we all have same versions etc...

Yea boxed version of Combined Ops will be exactly the same as any digital copy. Its essentially just A2 and OA running at the same time, so you can play A2 missions on the OA engine (better)

arma2 on its own is 7.5G!!
