anti virus software

so my anti virus has just run out (which was escan btw) not bad but only used it coz it came free with my order from scan uk, so my question is what are you using. im looking at eset nod32 coz they get good reviews from gamers and non-gamers alike, but there a bit on pricey side, im also looking for promo codes if any 1 knows were i can find any that actually work cheers in advance.

some people moan about norton, but this years norton 360 is what im using, and i aint had no problems with it.

yep, does everything, registry, the lot. Not to be confused with Norton 2011, which doesnt have as many applications.

ESET Smart Security, never had any viruses and I download a lot..

I use Avira AntiVir Personal Free...it's free.

they done alot of work on it, so it aint so resource hungry.

cheers for replies guys , just a quick question wots the difference between eset's anti virus and the smart security. with it being a tenner more i wanna make sure its worth the extra dough

I'm not exactly sure but i think smart security is an upgraded version of Nod32 .

visit university web sites and see what they are running, as usually they have the latest and best industry standard,

Mcafee is what i use, very good and completely configurable so as not to get in the way of gaming, and i used to get it for free back in my institute days but now i'm happy to pay for it (£25 ish a year ??)

AVG free never let me down.

I've fallen out with AVG. Used to be good, then it got too interfering and bloated. Using Avast! happily at the moment.

The AVG free is just email, web sites and anti virus. Cannot get better than free.

Also unless your a complete noob there not much chance of getting a virus that would do much harm. I dont play facebook games, click links in TS or xfire without checking them first. Open email in a web browser before using my mail client to download them to my PC. Common sence is free.

Unless your targated a good firewall in your router will do.

It picked up my internet banks 'increase your security with us' BS popup as phishing...that was fairly cool!
