well, he got hit with proper rifle round [7,62 x 54mmR], not some ak or ar crap. It easily penetrated heli skin and got the pilot in the shoulder....at around 4:06+ from other cobra cam you can see that haji shooting... they wanted to send hellfire missile to make a point but the laser didnt have the lock atm.

They have PID(Positive ID) on an IED dude placing an IED right outside the base and they just watch him and let him run? It's TB(Taliban) backyard, "EVERYONE" IS ENEMY... :p
When I was on tour to Afghan we had orders to Kill on sight of confirmed IED dudes...

Well, wouldn't you say that knowing where his cash is or how his buddy's look like is also important stuff? Even more than killing poor bas***d at the site. If his just a young goon who does dirty job for elder "commander" than wouldn't you like to get to the end of it? Moving troops around = very important but keeping them happy almost as much so that's why you will notice flight attendants with a bag of snacks accompany those dudes. They also have a dog and sand shovels so they can make castle and play with dog while they wait for pickup.

You get yourself pack of those emergency thermal blankets, take the middle layer, one that reflect the heat and find someone to cut it in the pattern and make you a pair of trousers and maybe a hoody or a poncho, 2 or 3 layers might keep you quite warm but still, will drastically reduce thermal signature. 

I have no idea why insurgents don't use it. They are uploading videos to the web, it wouldn't hurt to use that web and do a bit of research in to thermal imagining technology...
