America's Army 3
For a number of years I played America's Army, back when it was only in version 2. As you may be able to tell by the amount of time I spend in PR, I appreciate slightly more realistic games as a counterpoint to arcady games such as TF2.
An all new version has been realeased back in June running on the Unreal 3 engine.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising from a simulationist point of view. There are a few things that grate on me after playing much PR - such as the health bar - but in other areas it seems pretty well deveolped - such as the locational damadge model and (compartively) detailed healing system.

I'll dl it at some point (it's on Steam, yay!) and let you know how it goes. :study:
Anyone else played AA3 or even AA2?
N.B. It's free!

Re: America's Army 3
Was playing AA alot before finding PR. It was good, you'll love the SAW. problem was is that the maps become far too repetitive. People always used to set up in exactly the same ambush places or run through the same piece of map when moving between points. Thought the hit boxes we're good though.

Yeah, I'm with you on that: rush, rush, rush, look for people coming from specific direction, die to bunny hopping t**t. But it was fun while it lasted.
SAW was fuuuuun.
I've dl-ed AA3. I'll try it out if I get time this weekend.

Re: America's Army 3
i played AA2 waaaay before i got BF2, tried AA3 as soon as it came out but was a little disappointed as lots of the training things seemed to be locked, dunno if this is on a time scale, as in they release them on certain dates or what, but yeah loved the online gameplay, minus the ppl always coming from same area problem...

Re: America's Army 3
Bah! I've given up on AA3. There's far too much graphical stutter, even on the lowest possible settings. I'm going to wait until I build a new system or the dev's optimise the game significantly better.
Other than that, it seems a fairly good game, though PR is still more to my taste.
