Do we have any further confirmation on how this will effect PR? I know I've had a brief conflab with Vandal on this one.

BY: Bazajaytee POSTED: Aug 27, 2009, 02:30AM COMMENTS: 8 (Login Required to Comment)
After nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release. The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe. Stay tuned for release announcement in the near future!
As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size.
Server providers around the world will have access to the client file so find your closest host for best download speeds. To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. Thank you to all of the EAUK Forums (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/) members who have given feedback and requests during the development of this update. The full change log for Update 1.50 is as follows:
Features Gameplay Tweaks Bug Fixes
- Additional support for Windows Vista. - Changes made to both the J10 and F35B to make them more balanced. - Fixed the issue where picking up a players kit would cause CTD
- Added Highway Tampa as a required map. - AA targeting tweaked to make it more effective. - Updated BF2OpenAL.dll from version 1.1.1.0 to version 2.1.8.1
- Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl. - Added checks to prevent "runway grieving". - Updated ch_gas_station collision mesh on Dragon Valley to be consistent with other gas station buildings
- Added Euro Force and Armored Fury as free to play content for all Battlefield 2 players. - Various changes made to prevent cheating. - Fixed the issue where MEC artillery piece on Operation Clean Sweep changes to the USMC's control when they capture the Airfield flag
- Added Widescreen support - Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model. - Updated the Challenger2 HUD to show the correct icon instead of the M1A2 HUD icon
- Allowed BF2.exe to use more than 2Gb RAM - Occasional connection drops after being on a server a couple of minutes - Fixed - Changed a PLA FAV to MEC FAV on Road to Jalalabad
- Added support for the Novint Falcon controller (http://www.novint.com). - Prevented use of mouse wheel to provide speed boost to vehicles - Tweaked the artillery respawn time on Dragon Valley for to 360 seconds as other artillery uses
- Prevented use of mouse wheel to exploit parachutes - Included a delay after weapon switch for the Bizon (PP-19) to 0.666
- Players can now pass claymores by going prone - Updated the F35B's lock delay to 1 second instead of 1.5 seconds to match other aircraft
- Update the HUD on TV Guided missiles to increase visibility on maps like Dragon Valley - Changed the Humvee camo on Taraba Quarry to be the correct design
- Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period) - Increased the splash damage of the UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns from 0.25 to 1.5

Re: BF2 1.5 patch is here.............................on september 1st
Official announcement from Reality Team.
www.realitymod.com
Project Reality v0.86 and BF2 v1.5 patch
DiCE have recently announced they are planning to release the Battlefield 2 v1.5 final patch this coming Tuesday, September 1st 2009. Project Reality in it's current release, PR v0.86, does NOT support the BF2 v1.5 patch. If you wish to continue playing Project Reality, do not patch to BF2 1.5 when it is released. We also ask server providers not to patch their servers, as players will no longer be able to join, due to the different base BF2 version.
Since the new BF2 patch is around 2GB in size (and includes Euro Forces and Armored Fury), feel free to download the BF2 v1.5 patch, but if you wish to continue to play Project Reality, do not install it yet.
The Project Reality team is hard at work on the finishing touches to our compatibility patch, PR v0.87. This will include full support for BF2 v1.5 as well as some other minor bug fixes and tweaks. The PR Team is dedicating all efforts at this moment to release v0.87 as bug free as possible and as soon as we can. When PR v0.87 is officially released, you can then install the BF2 v1.5 patch. Further instructions on how to correctly install the new patch will be available when we release PR v0.87.
Thanks for continuing to play and support the PR mod, we hope to have another media update soon with the latest progress on v0.9.

What will happen if I try to play on a Vanilla BF2 server patched to 1.5 if my own machine is patched to v1.41?

It'll just complain that you have different versions and not let you connect.

Re: BF2 1.5 patch is here.............................on september 1st
Ok choice, as we rent a BF2 server then the provider will auto update the server to BF2 1.5. Thus meaning we can no longer use the server to play PR as we can change mod but the base code stays the same ie 1.5 server code. correct me if im wrong but thats what i read.
So the choice is do we allow them to patch the server and just run BF2 on it or do we change it to PR perm. You all know my choice esp if we run falluja, basra and kabal only we had a full server for all 3 maps until that dumb vally map came on. perm insurgancy FTW. BF2 we run hlaf full with ppl esp me moaning about hackers and getting more and more pissed off then having fun.

Agreed. Looks like it's crunch time then.
If this is the case, would a vote be in order?
It would be good to include AAS maps occasionally in PR However.

I reckon a lot of clans are in a similar predicament. We could lose a lot of PR servers here. At least while we wait for the update patch for PR.

Re: BF2 1.5 patch is here.............................on september 1st
my point is why permantly lose our server to bf2
is it that hard to play on other PR servers until 87 comes out and we can have ours back..
