Arma 3 Alpha: 5th March

The alpha is available from 5th march it will be an invite/pre-order to have it (You then get 3 invites to give). It will also supporting modding in the alpha stage! Debating buying the Alpha/Supporter edition atm would be nice to know what DLCs they have planned.

Dslyexci of shacktac posted some screenshots and will upload some gameplay videos on monday

So guys whos buying it next week? Would be great to get some numbers going for a possible server/game? The invite version of the alpha won't support multiplayer, but those who have paid for the game will get MP.

Obviously I shall be doing my best to buy it on the Tuesday.

Awesome things that are coming to remind you guys:
- Underwater terrain/scuba diving now part of the game
- Awesome volumetric clouds
- New lighting system with muzzle flashes even on silenced weapons

. Chemlights look really sweet.
- Customisable weapons in the field you can remove scopes/lasers/lights on the fly ingame
- Working mirrors/screens in vehicles.
- Rag doll physics

, and all new physics for a multitude of things.
- New player stances (tactical stance), should be really nice for peering over cover. Theres a video demonstrating this
- All new gear system with a sort of fatigue system implemented.
- New sound system the weapons do sound really sweet.
- Alpha will support modding and using the editor

I know this video is quite old but no doubt shows a good bunch of the stuff of.

I'm buying it 100%.

I'm looking forward the most to the new animation system. Actual animation blending will be a gamechanger. No longer will you have to stop moving just because you want to wave your hand.

The movement will be infinitely better. Little/no mouse smoothing make for better aiming (less realistic, but better responsiveness. More like normal FPS's). Also peeking over/under cover will be fantastic.

Rag dolls will be amazing. Period.

I'm thinking about the normal or deluxe pack (with the digital maps). Not sure if the digital maps are really worth it, as Nixy mentioned I could probaply get them online if I ever needed them + I'll probaply never use them anyway.. I could do it for the support, but its not like I've got money to spare... Probaply will take the normal one

I am going to get the normal package. I think if the more expensive one included a guaranteed DLC or two it might have been worth it, but it is just full of fluff.

2. The promo does not count for expansions, such as O.A. was for ArmA2.. which means they are just cheating you out of your money Razz

dlc will most likely be something like BAF/PMC/CZECH were, add-ons rather the OA was like an add-on expansion pack.

They worded it very well to trick people into thinking they will get the £30 expansion pack when in fact it's the £15 ones :3 even though they arn't confirmed yet either lol

Indeed. Getting the 20 pound version will give you full access to Alpha, Beta and the full game.

It's gonna be tricky but doable. The GT550m isn't that much of a beast, but on 1366x768 resolution it should suffice. The CPU is a 2Ghz quadcore, so you'll be reasonably alright with that. The game does really seem to like quadcores Razz

. There's also a huge difference between low and high settings, so I'm sure you can work something out that runs a-okay on your lappy.

Can't wait until I'm back home this evening. I'll have to spend an evening setting up controls and getting used to them, I think lol
