It is allways very frightening to see how a religion, though intended to spread love and social values, can be misused and perverted to spread death and terror.

I envy those who can believe. Makes your understaning and picture of the world quite simple.

If there'd be a higher being than us, i'd be disapointed.
Events like the one Crenshaw shown us here are NOT part in a resume of a higher being that claims to be loving, tollerant and caring while equally claming to be all-mighty, all-knowing and all-powerfull.

Wow that was a big boom.

You can see a massive contrast between the actual FSA that wants to fight for their perceived freedom and people like the Al-Nusra Front. People like Al-Nusra, as you've seen in this video talking about Allah (I'm assuming the guy talking was the guy who was driving the truck and preparing for his death) and how fanatical it was. Such a major contrast between those people.

Who is to say that 'God' , in whatever form, is truly loving and caring? Just look at the human race, or even the people in this clan. We play murderous videogames to amuse ourselves. A truly almighty being could just as well use our wars for his amusement, no matter the cost.

Let's be fair, Religion does a lot of good for people. It's made me a better person no less. Basically, what it does at its core is it makes you stop looking at yourself in such a way that you're in it just for you. Not that that's a bad thing, but it basically teaches you to live with humility and to serve others. Which, in its basest form is the very basis of humility. It also, if you follow it correctly, teaches you very basic things you shouldn't be doing as a human that would upset the fabric of society (Stealing, murder, adultery, etc).

Now, when you get people who use Religion as a pass to do whatever they want, or come up with bs like "But God told me to shoot up that crowd of students for ." then you just ran into the very reason people shy away from it. And then you have those people who think it's their job to tell you that your life is worth crap cause you don't believe the same set of standards they do, all that jazz.

If you read into Christianity for example, none of that is our job. It says nowhere that it is our job to chastise others for not believing. It's not our place. But, some people will think it will score brownie points nonetheless.

Of course, every group of people has THAT guy. Even if it is BS, if it helps someone live a decent life, then let it stay, as it were. That is all, however, a discussion for another time.

I can't see your point here though. So Jesus comes and it's all fine and dandy? The Old Testament is part of God's Word too.
Do we just dismiss it because, welp, it has violent stuff so it's not suitable for the public, herptyderp so convenient.

What we have now is a cut-down, tailored-to-their-needs religion. There were multiple councils (such as the Council of Nicaea) that saw to that,
accepting some parts of the holy script and condemning others so it would fit the.. "needs", let's say, of the current era.

Now if you want to believe in the existence of a higher being(s), that's pretty fine and pretty logical too,
considering that we live in a world of infinite possibilities. I wouldn't even call it religion, just open-mindedness.

Many people take the Bible literally. It's a mistake. The content of the books pretty much derives from Jewish mythology maybe based on true stories.
Really I don't much of a difference between God talking to Moses through a tree that was on fire and Zeus turning into a bull so he could inconspicuously approach and eventually mate with a woman he took fancy to (LOL)
