Awesome round of awesomeness with awesome peeps at 23:00 on 16/8/12 on awesome basrah
Ok so it wasn't quite that awesome but one part was in particular.
To set the scene, the server crashed on shija valley mid round with lots of peeps getting pi$$ed, and by the time I joined Basrah it was only 19vs19, so my squad (CG-Delta, Obeer, PR-Dave, Green, epicbear, and someone else) and I was chilling in VCP shooting the ragheads as they tried to kill us, we got wiped out by some dicks standing on the ramparts after about 20mins so went for a wander towards the cache (it was next to the Hotel). After some hard work trying to cross the bridge onto the palace island we eventually managed to find our way into the palace and set up a support fob, but then I crushed a crate so we had to make do with grenadiers and HAT's and shizzle. There ensued a bitter firefight as we engaged the hotel as well as repelling inquisitive insurgents who wandered up to the palace and very quickly went to their 40virgins. After about 15-20mins of holding the insurgents off we succumed to an attack with a fake gary which allowed some sneaky ragheads to get into the palace and kill us all
Anyway, the awesome part of this whole scenario happened just after respawning at main to see a cache in the eastern edge of Oil Refinery near the big oil drums. We took a trans landy and 50cal landy down to the eastern land bridge and then on to the northern side of the mahoosive bridge that crosses to the eastern side of the map. After much fussing around like a group of grannies at a church tea party we eventually got ready to move by which time sq 5 (a load of B2B guys) had joined us. SQ5 went first and snuck up the eastern side of the refinery until they started getting shot, so my merry men and I then reenforced them and together we pushed onto the cache area very quickly. The immediate area was secured and myself and PR-Dave went up the southern oil drum, found the cache and blew it up with phoss. Then working together, my squad and sq5 proceded to retrace our steps back to the safety of the bridge in what can only be described as near perfect fire and maneuver, with half squads firing and the other half moving, then stopping and covering the first half etc. We made it back and an APC had appeared and it covered us back to the N/S bridge next to the land bridge. We then proceded to hold our ground and rearm before finishing the tactical withdrawl back to main to repair and rearm the vehicles.
I know it may not seem that epic, but it is one of the only times in PR where I have witnessed squads using and understanding the concepts of covering fire (ie putting as much fire down as possible to allow others to move) and what the british army calls fire and maneuver (one fireteam covering the second as they withdraw and then the second covering the first as they leapfrog back etc).
