Need help with set-up
Hello everyone,
When I bought ARMA II I was like "yaay finnaly gonna play a game similar to PR". Then I entered the options. Set the graphic settings etc. everything fine. Then I've entered control settings. Instantly hit Alt+F4.
So after that I came here to ask if someone could send me their key bindings (I'd <3 it if they could be similar to the PR ones)?? I just get lost when I try to set it all up... For example fixed-wing settings.. What the hell is the difference between "turn right" and "right pedal" ???

Re: Need help with set-up
stemplus arma 2 have completely different key settings then BF2 PR. no need to change anything because almost every key on your keyboard is in use in Arma 2.

If your thinking of being a CAS whore its very rare we use CAS.
There isn't a good key binding, there's a key binding you find acceptable but that's down to you.

Re: Need help with set-up
"Turn right" sounds like rudder, right pedal would be banking?

Re: Need help with set-up
I think "Turn right" rolls the aircraft on its right side. Right pedal will cause the aircraft to turn left or right without rolling.Stemplus wrote:well there are 3 "actions":

Re: Need help with set-up
No way you'll be able to set it up like PR.. ACE/ARMA is waaaaaay too complicated for that

Re: Need help with set-up
Yeah I know, that is why I said "similar". I don't want it to be IDENTICAL to PR, just a BIT similar
Well, Bank right means that the vehicle with "roll" to the right side. Pedals control the rudders so you bassicaly "turn without rolling". What the hell is the "turn right" then????Zach wrote:I think "Turn right" rolls the aircraft on its right side. Re: Need help with set-up
I have found that bank rolls the plane to the left or right, pedals are your yaw - they turn the direction the nose is pointing but only along the current axis, and turn is the same as bank but adds some pull up as well: eg to turn one needs to apply bank and also pull up/down - the "turn" command does this in one movement rather than making you have to do two.

Re: Need help with set-up
well i know nothing of arma but....
pedals control your rudder, opposite lock on rear ailerons will roll the aircraft quickly and the wing ailerons will bank an aircraft.
using the rudder whilst in flight will cause a stall very quickly so its mainly used for trimming whilst taking off or landing or slight trimming in flight. (though some very talented pilots in WW2 used the rudder to flip their aircraft whilst dogfighting and also used their rudder to strafe left to right when level behind an enemy)

Dont forget when the plane is on its side ina roll the rudder becomes the elevator and the elevator becomes the rudder.
If you want to turn fast while in a right roll pull back some elevator, add some oppasite rudder.
I suggest you read the basics of flight dynamics and control surfaces.

Sounds like a binding if you're using a keyboard then.

There's a way to roll using the elevator in ArmA?
