Driver update gone horribly wrong.
So,
I figured if I update my graphics driver for my ATI Mobiliy Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series I could get a better FPS (which I think I did?) BUT NO, f**k YOU ROBSKIE, YOU CAN PLAY CHECKERS INSTEAD.
I downloaded the automatically detect and install from the website but yeah, s**t isn't working.
HELP?

Re: Driver update gone horribly wrong.
Rollback to previous version or system restore. Also make sure you get the right ones + check google for any problems with those drivers.
-edit
Read that clearing PR cache folder (or something?) also helps with this problem? Others probaply know more about that

Re: Driver update gone horribly wrong.
To update your graphics card driver cleanly:
- Remove your current graphic card installation (only video driver!)
- Restart your computer
- Install the newest drivers
- Restart your computer
- Enjoy your clean install
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
To clear your Battlefield 2 cache (not weapon cache):
- Access your "My Own Files"
- Find your "Battlefield 2" folder
- Access "mods"
- Access "bf2"
- Access "cache"
- Inside you will find some folders named {some codetext here}, DELETE these folders
- Join multiplayer/local game to optimize your shaders again and the game will re-create those cache files for you
- ???
- Profit!

I don't see the cache folders ?
I uninstalled everything so my s**t was running with the backup driver and i redownloaded it, where can I find the previous version?

Hey Rob,
The cache folder is in "C:\Users\username\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache".
I had a similar problem with my old Radeon 4870 and I needed to stick with driver version 11.3.

I had to stick to that driver too, hellraizer. But now I tried to install the latest driver, which is 12.3, and the problem was gone
You should try the 12.3.
EDIT: I just realized you were talking 'bout your OLD graph-card... Silly me...
Also, 12.4 just came out. Will try that one.

Re: Driver update gone horribly wrong.
Just install 12.3 Rob, works fine for me.
I just stick to the driver that works, and every time a new driver comes out I try it, if it doesn't work I reinstall the old one. And I'll just keep doing that until they release a driver that works for me
