Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Hi guys,
just wanted to get this clarified. Swagger and I have developed a match-winning tactic on Jabal as USMC; use a CE to mine and eventually blow up the bridge and have a HAT (on the Jabal side of the river) cover him and harassing APCs. If this works, we completely cripple the MEC logistics as their trucks can't get across and we can also severely hurt their armored forces.
Last round we did this, we capped Jabal in 30 minutes and won the round in less than 60. Killed some logis, 3x AAV, 2x BMP and 2x BTR.
However, one time we did this it started a discussion in the main server chat: is this allowed or not. We're not attacking flags out of play in full force; merely harassing lone units. Also the huge view distance in Jabal means it doesn't really matter if you're at the river with the HAT, or back up in the hills. And ofcourse, the flags are pretty bunched up.
We always wait for the enemy vehicles to come out of their main; only engaging them while crossing the river or after having crossed it.
So we'd like to know (before getting banned for it when an admin is having a bad day ) whether this is allowed or not.
Edit: added a picture to clarify. Blue is our squad's path; building a FOB at the star then moving towards the bridge. The HAT sets up where the arrow is while the engineer moves across to sabotage the bridge. The light blue area is the HAT's area of engagement.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
blow up the bridge with c4 yes camp the bridge whilst the jabal flag is not in cap id say no as this type of tactic can ruin the games as it does on beruit and other aas modes of play we dont reccomend it ok . hope that clears it up .

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Main point of concern I think is that it takes quite long for the engineer to fully sabotage the bridge. This usually takes 20-40 minutes.
Question really is whether or not the HAT can legally keep engaging targets during that time.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
agree with kop, its a tactic that ruins the game i.e mutrah when US camp fotress attacking anything that leaves main and fools road when miltia sets ambushes just outside main...saying that militia is out gunned and brits have thermals which can be seen as fair tactic.
Blowing the bridge should take 2-3 c4's so all u need is a 3-4 man sqd doing sneaky arse s**t laying low placing c4 than boom job done.

yeah, going there and putting a C4 and blowing the bridge = good, HATing APCs = bad basically

Smurf, US is not allowed to camp Fortress. They are not allowed there untill the flag is in play.

i know that ...i just gave examples on certain maps where this type of tactic ruin the gameplay.....and going back to whats been said here its the same thing in jabal, if the jabal flag is in play than fair play if its not than its the same as US camping fotress.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
i'm pretty sure they made the north bridge on jabal indestructible didn't they ?
camping in fortress on Muttrah is lame but if something is there as a legitimate target (mortars for example) the ok
blowing up the bridge on fools road will get you kicked by me if i've warned you not to.
oh and by the way to further this discussion the tactic in the OP is an old ODS play.......
ask yourself, ultimately do i play to win or play to play ? there are many many such circumstances in PR because PR isn't perfect.
most sports have in recent years introduced a new 'rule 1' to their books and that is 'spirit of the game' i like to think that at NwA we try to embody this ethos.
basically if you play 'within the rules but only just' (in a jobs worth fashion) how would you feel if you are on the receiving end of such behaviour ? if you wouldn't like it don't do it to others, police yourself in other words.

Didn't they build CSBs for this?

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Just wanted to add this:
In Muttrah there is just one way out of main, thats going to fortress(or taking another route i.e going left earlier) but it's still one way out..
In jabal the enemy can still choose to go west with their APC'S, which means we're not really camping their ONLY road out of main..
To react to Speeds' comment, I couldn't agree more... but if I were in the apc and I got hatted at North Bridge, I'd take another route (west) out of main to make sure that doesn't happen again. The game yesterday just had the same 2 apc guys who just did the same thing over and over again, going out of main, stand on the hill east of north bridge, b00m Hat.....
Not that I want to be the decisive commenter, just to shed another light on the discussion...
Edit: yes csb's were built for this, but nobody really does it since it takes a lot of work and @speed: no you can destroy that bridge with 2/3 c4's

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
jabal compare to mutrah or fools road is different due to the fact its "open" ground and not much cover, so if an APC gets took out at NB u can easily ask a sqd too mop that area up for enemies or even stay on the other side and maybe kill the enemy from a distance using ur zoom etc.
there are different ways to avoid/neutralise the threat being discussed here, but i still think if jabal flag isnt in play its a s**t tactic.
if i remember correctly if u go "west" the only way u can get to dam is going up a massive hill near west beach?

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Feedback read and taken into consideration. Will replace the HAT with a rifleman and only focus on blowing the bridge.
It's really awesome to have the feeling of winning the round for your team, but I can understand that it's not as much fun for the 32 dudes on the other team. Will sacrafice own E-penis for the good of the server's gameplay.

Best satisfaction comes from being in the front lines and winning fire fights.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
I'm with speed, its more about the game than the win. Blow north bridge no more game. Its a sucky tactic that ruins game play. Like speed said its some thing ODS used to do along with putting a fob over looking the road west out of main. It used to kill the server as the mec team would think f*k this and leave.
It ain't no fun playing on your own.
We have a simple rule that states, This is AAS attack the flag in play. Sending a squad upto the next flag I'm fine with. Kill fob cut off supplies. Restricting movement from the main base 3 flags down the road then no. This is a team game where one team fights the other. No 1 man ninja fucks it all up for everyone just for the win.
No one would stay and cover the bridged they all wanted to rush and go looking for a fight.

Orford while were still talking about this.
how are we going to do with West/east beach on pavlosk bay?
if russia caps west/east beach in the beginnin US team have lost the battle.

Stop Russian spawning there. USA are allowed to capp. Once its capped the its game on. They must defend from Russians capping while attacking next flag.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Seems legit to me, your not engaging the enemy main base.. your simply setting up an ambush.. if you kill them there once then they should be wise enough the 2nd time to no your out there and be more carefull!

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
In my opinion this is a legit tactic, a small skirmish team out there to harrass a forwarding enemy.
It may become a raping event as the MEC keeps using that bridge, clear minds should understand not to do that time after time. there's enough ways to get rid of just some ninja's.
the focus is on that bridge,
Jabal isn't that unbalanced after all, it really depends on the teamwork in jabal. And teamwork was well represented on the Us side yesterday.
all individual qualities were used to the fullest, as for example the ambush ninja's in position.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
Quite simply, that bridge is the only good access for MEC Land only based vehicles, as we all know the CSB's are about as useful as a U.S FOB at the northmost bunker on kashan (seriously STOP building it there, make it in the bunker where the door faces OUR tanks)
For Jabal Al Burj, even blowing the bridge is a game breaker.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
It take one little CSB to fix the bridge, this is why CSB's were brought into the game.. destroy that bridge and your not crippling the mec team at all.. your just causing them a slight headache!

Just my 2 cents, if my team was being owned at a choke point then I would hope a able bodied squad would mount a counter attack and sort the problem.

Typical lonewolf behaviour (four guys behaving like a lonewolf is still lonewolfing). Fight as a squad for the objective in hand or towards the objective in hand.
Really is pathetic to see. The old argument that you're winning the game for your team is lame, you're giving your team a worse round as well.

Re: Jabal - Ninja'ing at North Bridge
In a clan match that would be a perfect tactic blow the bridge, in a clan match a squad would be assigned the role to protect the bridge.
In a public game no one every defends the bridge, unless *NwA* do it. Even then it dosnt happen. Simple rule to make the game play and map fare, do not destroy north bridge until Jabal city flag is in play.
Then every one gets a game and the US team dosent win cos every one rage quits and the server population dies cos they dont get a good game as they cannot get out of main.

A bit off-topic but I'm pretty sure you can build a FOB at the northmost bunker AND at the bunker facing the US side without any problem. The one closest to South bunkers gets used as a staging area for attacks and the other one up north serves as a fallback FOB in case the former one gets overrun.
On topic, IMO it's perfectly "fair" for this type of ambushes to happen because it's, well, war. We already have the rule about not attacking the last flag unless it's in play. Any area around that should be considered a live battlefield in which anything could happen. Don't get mad, get even.
Also, more enemy soldiers away from flags, easier to cap them
