Project Normandy - Mini Mod

Dunno if some of you heard/seen this mini mod for PR but i really think its a breath of fresh air from the normal "modern combat".
Its basically PR's (AfterDune and Co) recreation of the historical Normandy beach landing's which took place on D-Day 6th of June. If you've seen Saving Private Ryan than at the start of the film the Allies storm the beache's, and in the film and particularly in real life it all gets FUBAR'd
Now...imagine all that chaos of mortars..field guns...MG42...Snipers.....of ze Germans placed on the top of the beache's, ripping into all the allies disembarking from the landing crafts trying to storm and secure the beache's....PR stylie...well its here now ready to download.


There's assets too..Tanks...APC's etc

the very first thing i thought of with this mini mod was....

"everyone will switch to opfor"

and then i thought

"don't be daft"

and then i re-thought and i KNOW my first thought IS correct.

a couple of years ago i think the PR community was mature enough for this sort of project but i look at it right now and it, simply put, isn't.

any one else feel that these pretend L22T clanettes are taking PR too far back to its vanilla roots ?

or am i just in a bad mood ?

Think your just in a bad mood, for the normandy mod, I'd really like to play as an american, since trying to survive is so much harder with everything coming down upon you.. It might even go as far as that all the pros will be in the american team, while the noobs who can't shoot for sh*t are ze germans..

I personally love the germans(Nothing beats the Kar 98), but in a game like this it will get boring if not mixed up. I think american is going to get rather interesting.

Downloading now, this brings back memory's from day of defeat.. i loved that game!

I saw the closed beta stuff of this.. Definitely giving BF3 a break for this!

i downloaded this a couple of days ago and played it on the NEW clan server, i think the gameplay on this is epic, if the american side works together at the beginning and everyone fills up the boats meets half way in the sea and then attacks the beaches together its really fun.

Five full boats side by side advancing to the beach with a "30 SECONNDDSS" warning, then the ramps go down, bullets flying past your head, explosions hitting everywhere, taking cover behind the tank killers? seeing your teamates getting mowed down or fly up in the air......epic.

yeah i think who hasen't played on this mod yet should deffently give it a try, its fun on both teams, you have to bear in mind as well that the mini mod is new and they will be brining new stuff to it and fixing bugs so its still in early stages.

Av played it abit, find it pretty s**t tbh. Ill give it another go tho

totaly agree with you tempo! played some rounds with pewstockypotty as an SL(only as americans haha) and i absolutely loved it... I haven't played it for a week now cuz I played a lot of bf3 and normal pr but definitly gonna play some more this week!

I do however feel that the americans are a little OP, their guns seem to shoot way straighter then the german's..

I really enjoy the different gameplay of this from regular PR.

BUT really normandy? All you hear from the 2nd world war is the battle between the americans and germans. I would really like to see something original (french insurgency, african korps, polish cavalry?). After all the reason its called a world war is because so many countries were involved. But yeah probably I shouldnt whine since I havent done anything for the mod.

It's very good considering how few team members actually worked on the mini-mod. I've been waiting until the update for BF2: PR which should come with an update for PN. I'd recommend getting on when there is an event, especially the 128 player events.

dont listen to this arma fan boy , its good but for a short period because of the map, its 1 dimension type.

but there working on new map plus paratroops and new weapons with sound etc soooooo in time it will be great but not now.

Personally I don't like how it plays like vanilla in some aspects, it doesn't 'feel' like PR. The concept is novel though. What they need to do is work on the physics and stuff like in PR and get that PR feel back into it, then it'll be a mod worthy of the ages in that regard. I always did want a Normandy Invasion however.
