Bethesda sues Mojang, lolwut?

So yeah, Bethesda Game Studio (BGS) is suing Mojang, the creator of Minecraft.

Why you might ask? Because Mojang is developing a second game called 'Scrolls'.

Bethesda is terribly scared that people might confuse this with their 'The Elder Scrolls' series, and claim it is an infringement on their copyright.

Last time I checked, you can't copyright a word.. lol.


Nice d**k move with Skyrim coming up. If they really are as pathetic to continue these acts, I'm sure there are people that will stop buying their products. I myself already no longer purchase products from Activision, because they truly are SOB's..

Actually I know that at least one company has got a trademark (if that is what it is) on a word.. Guess who? Facebook! They are from now on the only company that can use the word face in a company name (if I am correct).
I wouldn't worry too much about the whole sueing thing though, I doubt bethesda will win that, and I'm pretty sure I read something about a interest-law our something. Blablabla, I doubt this will result in war.. IMHO

The name would be trademarked, not copyrighted.

I can't see how it would infringe and they're not trying to pass off (unlike the Tesco Puffin bars ), it's a completely different genre.
