The masterchef
Hey,
We were playing Gaza Beach and I was with the Hamas. At one point in the round the enemy built a FOB at the eastern edge of the map, right next to our mortars. We had an intense firefight with the IDF and managed to destroy a few vehicles and the FOB in the process. There were still IDF left alive, and they were getting revived all the time. I played as a medic, so I decided to throw smoke into the enemies to blind them and started to flank them from the right side. As I was flanking them I shot an enemy AR on the way, kept running and saw 3 enemies prone behind a destroyed truck which was covered with the smoke I had thrown earlier. I had no time to reload, so I kept running to them and took out my knife. I went prone right next to the IDF soldiers, and one by one stabbed every one of them. They were totally disoriented and didn't even realize what was happening!
Lessons learned:
+Smoke is also good for blinding and disorienting the enemy
+Aggression, speed and balls
-IDF soldiers should've covered their flanks
+If you see me running at you with a knife, you better run or you might lose your nuts!

Yeah, they're often unprepared, wanting instead to line up nice shots in their magnified optics.

"blufor sucks at CQB"
they can, but your only half right, picture the scene, Al Basrha Hotel 9 ish (near the fake gary's) your blufor, you kill a guy, 40 seconds later you have to kill him again !!!
now, lets say you do get him again but 40 seconds later again he gets you, surely that makes blufor twice as good at CQB over the insurgents but the outcome was still blufor fail.
plus, when your ins, and you've been sitting behind a wall for half an hour you have instinctively built up attack and escape plans, where as the blufor soldier needs to think about squad, supply, and attack, they need to build up real time data on enemy locations and transmit that successfully to the whole team.
insurgents just need to get to the last scene of contact and swarm like flies round poo to be in with a chance at success.
IDF on Gaza is one of the highlights of PR, Hamas on that map is for lazy people, same goes for Korengal, being on a winning Blufor side on those maps is the real achievement.

Re: The masterchef
that's an example of pure bad positioning, they could have easily fallen back behind the smoke(it gave them cover as well as disorientating them), some 50 metres out of grenade range and just set up deviation and waited for the hamas to filter through the smoke, then revive the guys that were wounded when the area was abit more clear.
I've done that on forest maps quite a lot where the enemy doesn't have a very far view distance and can't clearly distinguish people clearly. You take heavy fire at a location, you pull back best you can and then just wait for the enemies to filter to THAT EXACT LOCATION you were at previously. Seriously it works a charm.
And i think scopes don't make you naturally bad at CQB as bluefor, I just think that people would prefer to face factions like Hamas at distance due to them being at a disadvantage. And yea, whoever said it, they do bunch up no end, that's from seeing too much Black Hawk Down I think. The Haji's don't get scared half as easy in a video game, sadly.

Well, not everyone is a brilliant strategist Kop. Some people just have watched a few too many movies (or played CoD too often ) like you say.

Re: The masterchef
Generally people don't know how to act when a squad member/members are injured or wounded. When 1 guy gets hit, the entire squad stops the movement and seeks cover. Even worse, very often ppl start looking at the medic from 1 feet away as he's doing his work, and forget to cover the medic or engage enemies on their own. The medic is also part of the problem in many cases. He rushes to the injured men too fast, trying to be a hero. If a squad member was wounded at a certain spot just under a minute ago, it's kinda obvious that you WILL get shot by the enemy at the very same spot! So the medic should take his time, while the rest of the squad continues to engage the enemy, regardless if you're bleeding. The medic should also give instructions to the revivable guy about where to run, and where to cover via mumble. Also one more thing: If you get killed, it's enough to use the commo rose to call out for the medic. He can see you, he knows you're down! It's totally useless to block the VOIP channel with: "Medic I'm down, can you get me up? Hey medic come and revive me? Hey I waited 10 seconds, come on man!" - When the VOIP channel should be clear for communication! If you have to shout and kick and scream to quide the medic to you, use mumble for that!
Oh and I don't know what the proper solution for this problem would be, other then playing with good players. As a SL I try to give some general instructions for the squad and the medic at the beginning of the round, but I've found it be pretty useless. It's better just to play with the right people.

Re: The masterchef
I would love to SL next to Kings squad. Al tough I think I would rage much more at my squad than King. I know he's a solid leader and has the patience to act as one. That's also why I'm more likely to squad up with you (as medic) rather then next to you, because I believe we think alike. Stay behind squad, provide covering fire, wait till secure and revive. I kinda know what you're going for most of the time when you issue orders. That and it's easier than leading (lazy.)

Re: The masterchef
that IDF squad we are talking about here was already doomed before they came in they built a fob between our hideout and cache location and whats worse the fob was built out of bounce on the eastern side of the map. they couldnt really go anywhere. hordes of enemies to their north spawning 50m from them on the hideout....hordes of enemies shooting from south - from cache location, no go zone to the east, so the only option was west but we had that side covered too so no wonder they were slaughered big time
