Have Virus - Need HEEEEEELLLLLP!

Hey,

Bang's gone and got a bug, its the Windows Vista Removal Spyware. AVG didn't spot it and its thoroughly f**ked my LAppy (on the wifes at mo).

Any ideas on how to get rid of it, free would be nice.

I'm screwed for tonights training if I can't sort it.

Are kevs mate had the same problem, so he just reinstalled win7 and everything was back to normal.

Gonna give kaspersky a go, gonna pick up a copy today, see if I can sort it. Its knocked my operating system right out. Could be on for a complete re-install if Sperky can't fix.

Grab Malware Bytes anti malware and give that a full scan.

Can you tell me exactly what it's doing? Like, are there any popups on screen as you boot up? Can you use CTRL+ALT+DEL? Can you use the start menu to access different items?

Details.. Details MORE BACON, yes more details help a lot, how much access have you got, what are the symptons? Can you login and run programs? are you totally fried out of the system?

AVG is fine mate been using it for years. I have a copy of Kasperski and find it more of a pain lots of options and setting and takes about 20% of your system resources to run it.

As for the type of Virus you have no anti virus would of spotted it as its from a popup that is modded so if you click the red X to close it or click NO or Cancel it will install the program/virus. Your anti virus wont spot it as it dosent do anything until you restart your PC and then edits the registry to stop you anti virus from loading and then the virus dose it stuff.

Let me know but I assume you cannot run any widows updates or visit any anti virus website or update your currant anti virus.

What you need to do is download and install CCcleaner, Malware bytes antispy ware both will install in safe mode.

Installing a anti virus program while you have a virus is too late with this type of virus as it will install but not run and you wouldnt know whats not working.

First clean the registry then delete the spy ware. then update AVG. should do the job.

Ive cleaned 3 laptops and one PC with this virus.

Most shops or IT experts advise a full reinstall cos it take time to get rid of the virus and they are companies or departments that have cost and over heads and more than one PC to fix so the quick cheap and easy thing to do is a full re-install. They never put time or effort into finding a way to clean the problem.

Next thing is to get a harddrive that plugs into your router for backing up.

Would a system restore work no ?

I got this virus. All I did was do a restore to before I got it. Its never been seen since
