Re: Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro
Think that was the joystick a school friend showed me last week. If it's the one with force feedback.
The one i was shown was very nice. Great stick with nice feel. Buttons on base wasn't great but just had to be pressed right. Throttle was ok too.
Personally i have the Saitek Cyborg X. Sweet dual throttle and great buttons but the stick itself is rather lose (not a deadzone just not welded solid) It's not force feedback but a spring and I've found out i hate that kind of stick. I used to have a microsoft sidewinder forcefeedback with was the best stick evar! but it doesn't work in modern machines.
In short: Logitech with their cheap plastic feels are great devices while the Cyborg X Is awesome too but I much prefer the feel of a forcefeedback system.

Oh I love IL-2! There's a sequel coming out on the 22nd of march and it's gonna be epic! I tried installing it on my new PC but performance is crap.. Dunno why.

Re: Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro
I had that joystick for about 3 years until, for some reason the side buttons stopped working...too bad cause its a really nice stick. Thrust is easy to adjust(thrust button should be a little bit tight..feels loose), and the alternate fire by thumb finger is something i really miss on my Cyborg X stick.
Side buttons are a bit far and somehow tricky to use because you need 2 fingers to control the thrust. buttons left/right of the HAT switch are a bit difficult to use cause in heat of combat,if you have a key binded to HAT switch, 99% of the time you will engage HAT and its bad.
BUT,for BF2,make sure you dont bind any key to HAT switch and it will be fine .
To sum all the gibberish i've just typed, this stick will perform very well on BF 2, especially choppers(thrust is very responsive) - anyone who played Ghost town as HIND/GAYPACHE pilot knows what i say.
IF you have doubts about this stick, give this one a thought: Cyborg X

Re: Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro
Get your self freetrack and hack a web cam to bits and put your head in the game. I use it for Flaming cliffs2 another flight sim game. And many moons ago I was a 2ic in a flight sim virtual RAF flying C130`s and C5`s Had track IR then but that was £150 and free track cost me a 10 spot. Used to fly with everything set to full real. I`ll have a look at il2 but seams a bit arcadey though the community add-ons look epic.
I use a thrustmaster T-Flight X. I find logitecs ok but prefer saitek or thrustmaster cos they build for flight simmers and armchair fighter pilots not just bung a stick togeather to make money. Have a look at the saitek X-52 they are pritty cheap now the new version is out but if you want to get into flight sim games thats the way to go.
Cyborg X is a awsome stick if you have small hands. All the hand guards and thumb rest trigger guards make thing a bit cramped if you got big hands. I go wrist cramps when I had one.

I`ll download il2 on friday (payday) and teach you how to land a spitfire and dogfight. Its all about managing your energy, they can be tricky at low speed but with flaps and gear they land with about 20degs of nose up easy when you know how.
