right i need to get a PC for school n gaming as well

ive bin lookin at this one:
follow the link and click on the AMD Phenom X4 part
http://www.computerplanet.co.uk/custom/index.html

plus these upgrades:
1. AMD Phenom Quad Core 9850 (4 x 2.5GHz) 2MB Black Edition
2. 4GB PC-6400 800 MHZ (2 x 2 GB) (DDR2)
3. 2 x ATI Radeon HD 4850 - 1 GB - 2xDVI/VGA (Asus) CrossFireX Setup
4. havent got a clue about mother board but cheapest tht will work with CrossFire
5. was looking at 600W PSU if it will run it
6. No OS cos i have a (cracked) copy of XP
7. 320 GB 7200rpm hard drive
8. Samsung (S222A) DVD PLUS/-RW 22x Dual Layer - Black (IDE)
9.ASUS Wireless LAN 125Mbps (USB)
10. 19" widescreen TFT
11. Standard Keyboard n mouse
12. No speakers

so basically if anyone can give me some feedback / give me some other options with roughly the same specs (not MESHComputers and graphics is most important) over the next 2 days as im goin bk to boardin school on tuesday and need it ordered by weds/ thurs at the latest.

O and i have a limit of £750 dead and i dont care wehter its AMD or Intel or ATI or Nvidia

cheers

Dont bother with the mega wirless land as the USB bus ccannot handle a 125 meg data stream the usb spces ssays it can but read the small print "BURST SPEED" a 54g wirless at £19 from PC world would be just as good. Unless the other one comes with some bloody good QoS data packet onboard like the lan party ones do i wouldnt bother.
Also me and mick mentioned getting a cheaper quad core and over clocking it. That AMD chip is alot of money for the bang-buck equation. Get a good quality intel board some quality overclocking DDR2 ram decent air cooler HSF and you will get alot more bang for your bucks.

I like overclocker as they bundle ram and boards with chips they know will over clock togeather in bundle deals. HAve a look at there bundles or there bearbones systems.

In that case go to PC world buy the best PC they got for ram and CPU knowing that later on you can upgrade the PSU and graphics card when your ready.

4gb ram quad core 8700 640 gig of ram. blu-ray drive and dvd burner. shit graphics but owts better than the laptop you had and its only £518 or £626 with the dell 20" monitor. leaving £120 towards a better graphics card. Vista prem installed you`ll be hard pushed to build ofr less.

Or this one no blu-ray but a 769meg 9600gs graphics card. same proce as above and same ionc monitor.

Some may say you can build for less money but finding ordering and delivering all the parts, building installing os and others software before the 6th .......... good luck.

Sound advice Will.

You aint got much time mate.

I would favour the GFX card over a bluray rom.
Try and use the extra money left over to barter with them for a better card.

ok out of them two, x3 8750 is not a bad chip go for that one over the x2. but if I were you I would spend the extra £30 and get a9850 quad.
I dont no why amd brought these tri cores out I think its a quad with one core disable or defective?
but it does well in a lot of test and it's cheap

but that in mine it will not do as well than a 2x core cpu (E8500/E8600) for playing games here are link to help you

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/phenom-x3-8750_6.html#sect0
http://www.behardware.com/art/imprimer/720/
and
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3293

2 core vs 4 core
the best 2x core is the E8500 or E8600 from games but game makers are start to make game that use all four cores so 2 core may be better now but in the future 4 core may be better

I belive that it all comes down to your expectations. If you expect the gaming industry to find a way to REALLY USE Quads in the upcoming titles like UT3/Crysis/Wake and/or you work with apps benefiting from Quads - go for quad core.
If you think that gamedevelopers are slow on the uptake, go for two cores.
