Dslyecxi's Arma 2 Tactics guide

This is probably the most comprehensive and well presented guide that I've ever come across. There's some pretty serious leadership doctrines that can be overlooked but the core rifleman page, the attachment and the combined arms pages are definitely worth looking at. They give relevant tactical information as they consider the positives and negatives of certain battlefield elements.

Re: Dslyecxi's Arma 2 Tactics guide
I've tried reading that manual before and found it sort of lacked a certain aspect, the enemy.
planned tactical manoeuvres are all well and good if the enemy behaves as predicted which sort of means you need to have a clear mind set about them.
all to often i see squads, even whole teams underestimate the enemy, making pre-planned attacks predictable for them to counter.
just my opinion but squad and team cohesion often pays dividend over micro managed plans, a reason why i loath the squad leader role (because i'm rubbish at getting that cohesion in the squad)
but, there's always a but, estimating the enemy correctly often means taking far to long a time to execute tactical manoeuvres within the time frame of PR.
whats the answer then? well if i knew that....but one thing is for sure, timing is probably your best friend, particularly in insurgency but also in skirmish type play as well, attacking whilst the enemy is depleted should always be a high priority.
subterfuge is also another tactic that can greatly cut down the time needed to take tactical and estimated attacks.
basically, a squad playing properly will almost always be overtaken by events produced by their fellow team members and no better example of this is your team burning their tickets before your squad has much chance to do anything meaningful.
of course these are just my opinions

Re: Dslyecxi's Arma 2 Tactics guide
The guide is more useful for the generic stuff it explains that a rifleman should do, more than anything it attempts to make the reader far more aware about things they should be concerned about how much ammo they have left in a mag, what your blind flanks are etc.
Your absoutley right in saying that the enemy poses the greatest threat to the tactics deployed in an actual ingame battle, However I found the tactics in the guide to be more generic ideas and how to do things, pretty much just pointers of the expected way to take care of things.

I'd agree with the sentiment that it's a better guide for basic squad members than SLs, but then SLs need good judgement and initiative which comes from experience, not something you can easily read up on.
