I could upload setting for keyboard I made with WSAD and keys around it for flying, arrows and surrounding keys for radar,engine is same and I moved flares and jaming closer, above that I use mouse for looking around.
When I seen layout setting for the first time I hit Alt F4

but than finaly done it right and I had a lot of fun intercepting airliners full of terrorists Razz

LOL you want to try some formation flying. Get in an A-10 and go hunt down some strelas with your AGM-65s. It's immersive stuff!

Most important changes that makes flying in Lock On simple:

WSAD -down,up,left,right; QE -rudder left,right;

Shift+WSAD -trim down,up,left,right; Shift+QE -trim left,right rudder;

Ctrl+W -reset trim; Ctrl+S -auto attitude;

R -increase throttle; Shift+R -power up (more accurate adjustment);

F -decrease throttle; Shift+F -power down;

Ctrl+A -auto-pilot; G -gear; H -flaps; L -cockpit illumination; Ctrl+L -on board lights; etc...

Combat modes are same 1-8; Tab -select target; T -next target (on numeric keyboard things like nearest or next/previous air/ground target);

Arrows for controling radar lock; Ctrl+arrow down to center hud;

Z -active jamming; X -weapon select; C -cannon; V -dispense chaff & flare; Shift+V -continuously dispense chaff & flares;

I hope this will encourage some of you to give this great game a go.

I have lock on v 1.0 just downloaded patch1.02. Although I do have the black shark and flaming cliffs 2 is compatable on-line with flaming cliffs. Now that would be intresting.

Don't worry about patching it, I got Lock On: Modern Air Combat in version 1.01 that comes right from cd and for my training purposes is ok.

I guess I will get Flaming Cliffs 2 when I learn all the basics to shot some pigs in multiplayer but to be honest for now majority of my engagements ends up in catapulting my ass out of burnig jet Razz

We will just customize your keybord input via TS first and than you should find it similar to pr in terms of steering.

wtf 1.1b all i could find is 1.02. Any hows installed and patched. I fly with a stick Alchem. Will try to take a look later will have to print out the manual first and set some buttons on my stick to whats needed to fly the basics.

Mint find keyboard lay out (colour coded for shift ctr and alt) for 1.02 version. click the link to got to a forum popst back in 2006 but the file download still works.

and whats the digital copyright on it? i.e if i was to "aquire it" wlist only paying my internet bill... would it work online

Its not as indepth as i though it would be I just need to RTFM to get my head around shooting stuff. The flying side is very easy even on real settings. Just get hard when your flying aiming the missiles dodging inccoming and handling the radar mode. On there own easy all togeather makes it hard for a newbie but fun once masterd I HOPE!

Proper stick as in lots of buttons and a twisty rudder yes. a HOTAS no. Flaming clifs look fun as well that may need some HOTAS help[.

Online is done via hamachi as me and LAch did last night.

Might have to look into this, the novalogic shooters were good fun (Delta Force series), absoutely love Commache 4, one of the funnest attack helicopter games ever (and quite easy Wink

earlier on at least). I have a copy of the orginal lock on lying around somewhere but never played it I dont think I'll have to give it a go.

It uses a Starforce protection agent which is tight as a bas***d. Not sure if you're going to get around that.

To all those subtel people who haven't yet learned that
from wiki
"Hamachi can be used to connect you and your friends together for a gaming session by creating a virtual LAN (called Virtual Private Network). A VPN client will give you better latencies (less lag) than traditional Internet based gaming because it bypasses the extra servers required to Host/Join a game session."

In short, if the game has LAN it can be played over VPN without serial number that would normaly be requested by the internet server.

Thats why Starcraft2 dosen't have the LAN support at all Razz

Awsome my kids have a eye toy camera for the PS3 and i found windows drivers for it so i can use it as a web cam. Good thing is it will do 125fps and fully controlable for light balance etc so its works with free track.

modded my head set and fitted 3 IR LED emmiters. and 3 volt batt pack with 3 30ohm resistors. I have taped up the wires so it now look nice and neet.

Modded the eye toy camers and removed the IR filter so it picks up the infrared from the LED`s.

Well I picked up lock on for about 4 quid off amazon, so if I like it I will probably buy flaming cliffs 2. Lockon is enough for now though.

Scotty, I got IL2, forgot how bloody hard it is haha. I die. Lots. I'm gonna be around all weekend this week if anyone wants to teach me to fly, on either games.
