well even with my super exp3ensive woo looks what stats ive got rig, it was so and laggy so ran it on a lesser res and high not ultra, and its smooth as hell now

Running at Ultra, 1388x768 or whatever it is, fine FPS wise.. just a few crashes here and there at certain parts, It's brand new so I'm not in a position to moan.. but god damn it's one of the best looking DX9 game i've seen.

Thanks for those tips Cap, that damn mouse thing was bugging me, and I thought it was a problem on my end!

The game sure looks very nice visually and also nice features BUT am I the only one a little annoyed by the console style gameplay?

Absolutely I feel cheated, granted they said its better on pc but it does feel like a pc port of a consol game and that's the wrong way around!!


However. It is elder scrolls 5 and as which I shall play it as such, already jogged on the main quest and am now roughing it out looking for lost property, passing messages and bandit hunting



Ps. Giants are friendly and will not attack you! UNLESS you goto close or attack there wolly mammoths!!! But where there's a giant, sit back watch let them walk way from there camp then move in for gold weapons spells and enchantments

Nayt, you could'a said that earlier!! Was walking down to Whiterun, saw a giant.. thought "I am teh 1337 ARCHER.. ATTACK!!". It did like 0.001% damage, he chased after me so I s**t myself, ran to the nearest guard tower, and the thing killed like 4 guards before I could finish him off! Then accidently ran into a bandit camp whilst I was battered and bruised and then s**t myself again and found that Jarl bloke to give troops to that little town you stop at. I'm having great fun, Currently getting that Wizard (They all have elongated fancy names I don't remember) bloke some dragon stone, got myself a nice new "Ancient Nord Bow".. Not bad not bad!

I'm not doing the main mission, I never do with fall out/ elder scrolls soon as first mission over and I'm in control I'm off!

The stories not too bad so far, I've now got 5 incompetent idiots + Me, an even more incompetent idiot VS Dragon. :'(

I've just reached level 17. Been doing a lot of blacksmithing and it's paying off!



Full Orcish (heavy) armour.

Chest: 67 armour
Boots: 28 armour
Helm: 34 armour
Shield: 40 armour
Gloves: No longer Orcish, since I've found leather ones with +25% 1h damage.
Mace (also Orcish): 38 damage
Bow (Elvish, ): 22 damage.

With sneak attacks I can often 1-hit people with the bow. It's insanely useful to use as an opener when facing a group of enemies.


I also bought the first house in Whiterun (as probably everyone else did). Here's two screenies from my decorative armoury.






Time to train my heavy armour some more.. the weight on that stuff is killing me


Also, with my old box 'o junk (a.k.a. PC) I'm running the game on the 'High' recommended settings from the game itself.
Resolution: 1680*1050
AA: 8x

Strange really, since my PC is just about at the bare minimum of what they said the 'recommended hardware' would be. But hey, looks great like this!

Not the dragon part, just the way I killed it I was really happy with how awesome it looked

I had a few graphic bugs.. I installed latest nvidia drivers but didn't restart (it didn't prompt me like it used to with older releases). A restart fixed it but I still get weird missing fire animations and such once in a while. Other than that (and the god aweful UI) I'm LOVING it. So freaking great game. I'm usually the first to point out mistakes in games (and this has a few) but I'm willing to let them slide because everything is so much better.

Also there's some fixes and tweaks online to disable VSync, mousesmoothing (Die in hell mousesmooth POS!), add tree and rock shadows. Just google them.
Personally I find the default WAY WAY too narrow. Press tilde key (under esc key) to bring up the console, then type "fov 95" <- makes it much less headache-y and more playable

There are a few bugs, sure. And while the UI is made for a console it's not that bad, imho. I've had worse ports.

The only thing that truly bugs the hell out of me with the menu's is that you can click anywhere, but it wont register the mouse click and select a different action. When interacting with vendors/chests/lootable bodies it's especially annoying because it keeps on closing if you press a category more than 2 away from the one that is 'highlighted'.

Also, sometimes after reading a book/note from my inventory it gets stuck. I need to select a different category such as food, and swap back to books to read another.

Also, the most funny one is that the first dragon you kill is bugged in my game. I killed it, but every time I load into Whiterun via carriage, or leave the main city gates, the corpse spawns in front of my face. It just falls from the sky and drops down.. very weird.

Other then that, I love how the game worked out. I'm also glad they took the time to at least put some effort into better graphics for the PC. It looks amazing.

can any1 tell me whats the game is like, is it the normal rpg run arround and chop people head off or does it have a good story?

To answer your question: The game is awesome, the First person makes it feel very alive and the story couldn't be better. And it's not just running around *chop chop chop chop*. Every battle you gotta work to stay alive. Ofc that depends on what difficulty you choose but still...

The only downside imo is, like Nayt said, that it feels like a console game converted to PC. It really should be the other way around.

It's just the menu that reminds me of a console game. The gameplay itself is just like a PC game, and as Morrowind/Oblivion were. Left mouse does your right hand and right mouse does your left hand. That's all you need

Are you sure you're playing the same Skyrim, vince? Obviously there's killing, but there's a driven story line behind it which I'm really getting drawn into.

There's a main story line, then multiple, MULTIPLE other little questlines and factions, be it assassins to werewolves. They said they stopped counting at 300 gameplay hours, so.. y'know

Instead of trying to click everything use WASD and E and Tab more. It ends up being pretty smooth once you get the hang of it it's just not what everyone is used to.

This is true, but the mouse is far more useful instrument then having to hold down keys to cycle through menus.

Yes the UI is horrible. Enter for YEs and tab for no. They couldn't be further apart. All it would have taken was one more coder and they could have made us happy for a change, but they never will, because we'll still buy their games!

Tip: E also works when it asks for Enter. The only time in the menu you HAVe to use mouse is when it asks for "Are you sure yes/no".

Also I'm about lvl 24 ish now and I'm using light armor (scale + elven) with about 206 total armor rating (all flawless due to smithing).
I'm dual wielding a Skyforge sword (flawless) that does 43 damage + I've enhanted it with 21 firedamage (~130 uses). I found a mace in that dwarf city to the west that does ~50 dmg i think + 25 to magicka + 25 to stamina + I can trap ANY soul in my unique item called a black star that allows me to store any soul and it's reusable.
TL:DR
Light armor ~206 total
Skyforge Sword: 43 dmg + 21 fire
Mace: ~50 dmg + 25 to magicka + 25 to stamina + traps any soul

jesus, how did you get all that ridiculous stuff at lvl 24?!! and don't you need to have smithing maxed to make scale armour?

I'll post my full stats later I'm only like 6/7 but heavy armour, red guard, few spells, a fine sword an shield set, I'm walking capital to capital meeting people as I go

Scale armour only requires 50 smithing.
Glass requires 70.
Dragon requires 100.


I have 100 smithing, but I found that for heavy armour, Daedric armour is better on all fronts. The only problem is the materials.. Ebony ingots and Daedra hearts.

I'm thinking about making a wizard toon as well. They seem a lot more balanced than they were in Morrowind and Oblivion.

I'm a sword swinging heavy armour redguard, I like spells tho, technically on my way to becoming a battle Mage

Actually I remembered wrong. I was lvl 28. Damn I'd love those 400 armor. But I'm staying light, it's more my style for no particular reason. I think my next character is goign to be a mage. I'm never mage in these kinds of games but dualwielding powers look epic.

Same Same. I'm lv11, currently roaming in theives guild armour with Dual Elven Daggers. <3

At first I thought Throw Voice was pretty useless, especially since I'm not a stealth character, but then I used it to lure 5 necromancers into a falling boulder trap xD It was hilarious, they just kept walking and then *Squish* all dead haha. Also It's pretty useful to lure people into the open so you can sneak attack them with an arrow.

Werewolf form is pretty damn awesome. Take down dragons easy as hell

you can't call them? the shouts are more like extra powers. you can only kill dragons as far as i am aware.

yea, werewolf form is fun, but too many downsides!

Currently <3'ing my stealth char. Elven Dagger + Dark Brotherhood armour + Sneak perks = Insta kill slit throats. I can destroy people in full on hand-to-hand aswell, pretty damn good. Next toon will be a pure mage, no Theiving guild or anything, and fight for the imperials. I'm a lore kid, So me being a nord literally means I have to fight for the stormcloaks! Either way, I'll be a slip through the crowd and a blade to the neck, or a quick ping and an arrow in your forehead.

PS - at 43 stealth, I crept round (without the torch, that was for picture illumation purposes) and they both got knives to the throat, aswell as the pile of bodies I left in my wake.

Should'a seen this bloke I killed who was sentry on a cliff. *Ping* goes my arrow, Thanks to a hefty 3x sneak bonus, He flies off onto someones boat below. I creep down and see a bloke go "I'm gonna get whoever did this!" Before I then shoot him into the sea.
