PR Tutorials

In recent months the quality of players getting on the PR servers has clearly decreased. This is he first in a series of video tutorials attempting to educate the noobs and bring out the pros for better gaming. Would appreciate suggestions and support, but obviously there are many more videos to come.

I would appreciate that, although all comments show interest which is awesome. Ideally, by the end of this, I would like to have created what is essentially a Manual in video form. People may be more inclined, before playing the game, to 'Watch the Manual' and opposed to reading it.

So at every stage if you feel I've missed something it can be covered later in the 'Manual'.

just bump the thread when you add a new vid to the OP, i'll then clean the thread to make to comments relavent to the new episode.

Until then feel free to comment all, any thing of importance you dont want to lose i would suggest PM'ing slorg so that he has the request on file.

maybe these intro vids would be better done in full deployment ? couple of reasons, people might get a feel of the discipline expected in 'deployment' and showing something like deviation or medic kit in the field (maybe using things like 'slow motion' and stop start editing of 'real' ? situations) might be more of a 'hook' to new players who have never seen the game actually played before.

no real criticisms from me but i'm just thinking that a training server and its 'training server behaviour' might not be the best showcase for the mod, also using deployment you could show off the many and varied environments that the new player might find themselves in.

yes you could argue that new players should be using CO-OP etc before joining a deployment server but in the real world they wont and that is after all one of the initial reasons behind your endeavours in these vids.

if you do use deployment in future let our members know what you are doing and i'm sure they'll be only too happy to help.

Slorg the 1:30 rule isn't there because making a squad before 1:30 will create a squad bug, but:
1. It let's people with slower computers catch up and have a chance to claim the asset
2. 1:30 is the time when autobalance stops balancing teams. The squad bug is created if someone has a squad (before the round started) and he gets teamswitched. It blocks every next squad (i.e. if guy from sq 1 got teamswitched, noone can create a squad, but if the guy from sq 5 gets teamswitched, you can create up to 5 squads etc.).


BTW: you should also add that Scimitar isn't an Aprored Personell Carrier (APC) (since it can't transport troops) , it is Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) :) So if someone makes a APC squad, you can still make a IFV/Scimitar sq and claim the asset Wink
BTW2: I am not sure, but I think that there is a little path North of insurgent main on fallujah, since I took my squad over there plenty of times to flank the cache :D But it may be changed in this version so I am not sure about it.
