i find this a very intermittent problem, I'll be fine for the best part of a month then suddenly mid game (usually a couple of rounds in) I'll get kicked in ever decreasing time periods, going from kicked then back in for 5-10mins then kicked then back in for maybe 2-5 mins then kicked again then barely 1 min before kicked again - at which point I realise I am doomed and the PR gods hate me and rage quit.

However, it is also f*****g annoying so anyone with a fix/ideas...??

the only way to get a solution is to do a trace route search when you're having trouble, if everyone who has trouble does it then Hetzner can be informed and they can work out where their route is being bottle necked.

report all trace route search results to Mick.

that's how i remember it any way, maybe some details have changed but i think that's roughly it.

get evidence to put in a ticket and hetzner will investigate.

last time this happened it was mainly Holland that was getting trouble iirc

The was a windows update a week or so ago to fix a flaw that allowed the much reported FLAME virus to work. A flaw in the way windows allows data to transfer over a open connection. Since the update PB has a issue, doing a manual update by running pbsve some times fixes it.

You will also notice the first time you click to join a server you get the connection has been lost message and have to join again.

Both have been caused by the windows update to close a security flaw. Side effect being its borked PB. People who dont have this issue have confirmed they have windows auto update disabled.

I did have the number of the update but never got round to removing it. Do a search a let me know the kB number and if removing the update fix it.v

Otherwise wait for PB to issue a fix. MS probably wont.

I've noticed that I'm starting to get these "freezes" every minute or so. Then, 5 minutes later I get kicked for key packets. So now, everytime these freezes occur, I ask for an admin to restart PB. And it doesn't kick me :)

I probably get kicked for key packets around once a month? never really had a problem with PB. I just manually update it every week or so.

So far I've indeed had the issue that when starting PR, the first time I join a server it says the connection failed (100% of the time). Not been kicked by PB for losing key packets, however.

Windows 7 ultimate with updates enabled.

Thinking about it I have been refusing my computer an MS update all week (the one where you can postpone it 4 hours), I left my computer on Friday Night and when I came back noticed it had been restarted.

Pr had been fine all week and I'd never had issues with PB, played last night and was getting kicked for the packets loss. Seems my problem must be directly due to the update Orford mentioned.

I got kicked once by punk buster for 5 mins that was a long time ago tho, everything seems ok with me. Maybe we should do PB restarts every 40-60mins whilst on the server?

The FLAME virus isnt any thing u need to worry about Scotty, its a virus that targets specific PC in Goverments around the world. It searches the PC for data and sends it back to the goverment that is running the cyber op.

If it doesnt find any thing worth while it deletes its self from the infected PC. It is top end stuff the type of stuff you see in Films and think pb packets loss discussion thread 666450 no way thats s**t can be done. Well it is and its real.

Microsoft closed the hole that the virus used to send data back to the BOT servers that were setup around the world to sift through the data. The virus was sent a self distruct command last week and the BOT servers have closed down. Kaspersky were the ones that found it and set a honey trap for the virus with a PC full of fake data, once infected they traced the data back to the servers and found a network all around the world of servers being used to sort and run the virus.

Its not a conspiracy and normal PC used neednt be worried. Its Goverment run and thats they way of the world today. Which goverment no one knows but Russian China and USA are suspects. Given it was a Russian firm and how busisnes is done in Russian with tight goverment control and bribes I doubt it was Russian. To much time and effort went into finding who made it for Russia to be found guilty by a company being run by some one in that country.

Another reason for spending cuts on the military. Why by bullets , tanks and planes, when you can close down a power grid or close off the water supply holding the civilian population to ransome by using a cyber attack.

War is out dated, even a simple thing like hacking the best fore date stamp machine in a food factory can f*k up a civilian population when we all start to eat food that is contaminated.

Tin hat time fellas.
