Tank footage from Project Normandy Alpha testing

Hey guys,

This weekend a group of us were testing a new update for Project Normandy. This update features tanks! Here is a short video on some tank acton:

think the M48 is pushing the bounds of history a bit isn't it ?

was that a vehicle warfare mode or was there inf on the map ? have they implemented AT guns as they were probably the biggest threat to tanks in those days, well that and the Typhoon.

stock, i haven't been keeping my ear to the ground recently so a quick Q, is this mini mod going to be linked to the Falklands mod or will they remain separate ? if they are to remain separate does anyone else think PR is getting a little diluted ? i mean how many servers would you need right now to cover all of them ? 3 or 4 ?

@speed - Not entirely sure TBH. I haven't heard anything about it being linked. There are AT guns on the field which are powerful. This was an infantry map primarily, however we spawned tanks just to test them.

In relation to the dilution, these mini mods don't have the interest / players to keep servers going months after months. Therefore it is more likely to turn into weekly events when everyone plays it. We did it last time, every sunday was Project Normandy.

This tank footage is really cool to see. It reminds me of World of Tanks though. Only WoT is a bit more realistic. On the other hand, this footage has much more physics so that's cool.

Am looking forward to the PR release! and i spoke with Raizor the other day while he was doing some air combat on the falklands mod.. am looking forward to seeing that.

I'm not quite sure but i believe that's a pershing not an m48 mate:)

wasn't that the generic family, M48 M60 etc ? (USMC still had them in the first gulf war) (someone with tank knowledge will be along soon no doubt)

yeah you're probably right it's supposed to be an M24 yep.

you see to me those are all M60's (Vietnam) as opposed to the Sherman. (old git)

America did have even smaller and even shitter tanks than that as i remember.

not to much to see really because when i was a kid there was only British tanks worth looking at...simple....Chieftan rocks dude !!

yeah the US produced and used many tanks during WWII, most famously the M4 sherman and the M3 Lee (also are the M2 Medium Tank, M3 stuart, M22 Locust (airborne), M24 Chaffee and M26 Pershing). The M47 and M48 Patton tanks saw service from 1953-1990s, however the M26 Pershing was used briefly at the end of WWII until it was replaced by the M48 and M47's it looks similar to the M48 type tanks.

Is there going to be on PR:N maps for tanks only, as in Red Orchestra ? Huuuge open field maps in the bocage (not so heavy in FPS - as Ia Drang) with 32 players each side (around 15-20 tanks each side, of all kinds ? (light, medium, heavy, attack cannons as Stug))

^^ Now that would be my type a game type. RO back in the day arad oowee! i use to watch my uncle on that for hours!

It was good ol'time on RO on tank servers ! I played hours on it in my stug. But Arad was the smallest tank map i think.

As far as I am aware there is not a map like that. However they might make that type of map in the future, not sure
