Mixed AAS/INS Server

A few months ago *NwA* had a mixed server that I really enjoyed playing on, so I was very disappointed when they were brought to their current state of AAS or INS. I'm more of an INS player but I do like my AAS and switching servers to play is something I'd rather not do as it disrupts playing with a group. I've been on the INS server exclusively for about a month and a half now and I have to say it's getting stale. A mix of two AAS and then two INS maps worked fine in my opinion, and with the randomized map lists now in place we shouldn't have similar rotations every day. I'm not sure of the costs but I think if not too expensive *NwA* should give it a shot. I'd also be willing to boot up my PC in the morning or early afternoon and help seed it.

I think we have more guys in the clan who would like to see Mixed server again. I am on of them ^^

remember to be IN game when your seeding other wise we cant kick you if needed

i disagree klutz. There were reasons back than on having 1 mixed server i.e not enough admins during weekday's, new maps came out + winter maps etc. Its perfect as it is now..back on track, AAS server has its followers and INS server aswell. There are as many PR players out there that favour AAS as much as INS and to have a dedicated NwA AAS server along side NwA INS server is a logical way to keep reputation/quality of NwA on both fronts.

The AAS server should be changed imo <-- in my opinion? i think it is init ?

there are some boring ass maps on rotation.

I thought our AAS server was doing quite well, sadly it does die quite regularly during the week at around 10-11 PM GMT.

The cost isnt a issue we rent a high spec dedicated server. Could an a idea we can discuss. I prefer INS as well but a mixed server in stead of pure AAS could be the way forward.

I guess I should have been clearer in my OP. I mean that there should be a third server which is mixed. With that the AAS guys and INS guys can each have their own server and then those who like a mix can join the mixed one. I like the idea of a Fri/Sat/Sun layout for a mixed server. Exe no need to worry I've heard the headaches it causes

AM always on INS but if we had mixed i would be there xD

so maybe change the ins only to mixed and keep AAS only?

I disagree with having third server. There will not be enough admins and regular players.

I however agree that AAS should be changed to mixed. Havent played INS since servers were separated.

I think a third Mixed server running Friday to Sunday would be a piece of cake!

I would love to see INS go mixed Scotty. As it is there are too few INS maps and some have even become a chore.

There are plenty of admins on at peak hours so I not sure that will be an issue.

3rd server wouldn't be an issue, just need the man power.

I'm always...on the other hand, on AAS! A third server certainly since no-one really wants to give up their favourite 1/2 of the current server listings, and we can choose whether we would like to seed INS/Mix or AAS/Mix.

Same boat as Klutz - Love both INS and AAS, but I'm always on INS as that's where our playerbase lies, at least, the majority.

As an INS-whore I'm offended by those remarks . I don't play on the AAS server because I don't know the regulars there. Maybe this is the same for others? With a third server in the mixed configuration we could pull the best INS-whores along with the best AAS-whores into one game for some very exciting rounds .

I would like to see a mix server turned on a friday and off monday

2ins 2ass with just the fav maps .....but on a trial to make sure the other two dont suffer ..

I prefer AAS so I would rather see the INS go mixed.

Have both servers been busy while I have been away?

That's the reason that we can never sacrifice any of the servers.
If we pick the INS server, the INS lovers will complain.
If we pick the AAS server, the AAS lovers will complain.
Third server for the weekend? Sounds good, as a test for a month or so?
I would be perfectly happy with a mixed server. The best of both worlds..

Another option could be:

Week 1
Server 1 Mixed with ins bias
Server 2 AAS

Week 2
Server 1 Ins
Server 2 Mixed with AAS bias

The mighty V has spoken with sence again me like like that idea best of both worlds and only 2 servers to admin .

My two cents.

From memory, when the ins server was turned into mixed it became very hard to seed. Logging on at 2pm or 3pm and finding 10 players on at times. Server also took a massive dive in ranks which it only recovered from once the server went back to ins.

I'm sure there are other ins only servers but I haven't seen another one in the server list since I started playing PR.

You have a popular AAS and very popular ins server that fills every day and sometimes empties late at night which is usually due to a not so popular map choice.

I can only speak from my point of view but i join servers for gametype, I found that when the server was mixed alot of people would leave as soon as the gametype changed either way.

If you wanna play ins join the ins server, if you wanna play AAS join the AAS server. Simples

Am not really an ins-whore though, if by "your" you mean me in person. I like AAS and Insurgency equally. It's just that I dislike more AAS maps than I dislike INS maps

My opinion:
1) Ins server made mixed (because I'd hate to see AAS go mixed)
2) 3rd server for mix (doesn't matter for me when it's up)

like the saying goes if its not broke dont fix it but if it is make sure you have the right tools for the job

second part meaning we ill be loosing eather a dedicated aas/ins server to run both makes no sence to me

For that matter why spoil there game time to stop them mining to seed a server in the same vain spoil others game time by making there Fav server a mixed server. Lets just go with Kops idea of a mixed server on a weekend only. More players and no one has to sacrafise any thing they dont want too.

is it really that hard to disconnect from 1 server and join the 2nd one, or is it just the inconvenience of it all

Naa its not hard, its just all the regs you are playing with on INS when you leave and switch server's your leaving them also.

I quite like the idea of the mixed server on weekends. I can only really plausibly see three servers running on the weekend as there are considerably more players looking for a game as well as more admins and nwa members to seed servers.

I think instead of asking a question of whether we need a third server, we should be asking ourselves how can we ensure our servers continue the night and cater for the yanks. It would be nice to see our server running 24/7. I don't know if this is possible or not, but I think if it works we can increase our reputation in the PR community.

I (as per) side with Scotty here - It's not that it's a major inconvenience.. but it kinda is. I'm not that bothered about switching servers, but it's just the fact that you have to keep checking that it's on the map you went, then your not in at the start and risk not doing the thing you want to do on the map (IE, Burning Sands, I always want to go Armour/CAS since I get most enjoyment on that particular map). Also, If i get an awesome squad, they might not be willing to all go to the AAS server, plus if they're pubbers, most won't have reserve slots, meaning they're only gonna stay on that server simply because they're in.
