PR (bf2) pc-crash Empty PR (bf2) pc-crash

Post by JToTheDog Fri 20 May - 15:30:13

Hiya

I'm asking for some help on my friends behalf (I have a similar problem as well).

My friend has got a new PC with i7 mega-hyper graphics and all the bells and crap.
I tried to get him interested in PR. Five minutes in to our first game his PC crashes.
It has never done this before but we (he) thought it was related to something ells.
Five minuets or so in to our second try, same thing happens. Complete crash and reboot.
Again, it has never happened before, or after he played PR.

I've had similar problems with the BF2 engine, all be it in another mod, Forgotten Hope 2.
Same there, my laptop crashes and I even have to wait a minute or two otherwise it will just loop-boot. Never had that problem with any software ever before.

My problem is not as important as my friend's. He can't play PR :X!

Thanks in advance.

What OS is he using? I'm assuming windows 7. Run as admin, try compatibility mode as a starter, run in windowed mode and see the error message maybe

First step is drivers, make sure everything is upto date

Second, is he running an overclock? is it stable? is there enough power etc?

Thirdly, try running BF2 first, any problems?

fourthly, run pr on all lowest setting, and turn any forced settings (ati/nvida control panel) off

then, if it doesnt work smash with hammer.

nono, next step is setting the affinity of PR ( making it run on single core not multi - bf2 was made before multi core's were ) i wil ltry and look up all the info to edit your target path to make it run on single core, but i cant promise i can find it again

Everything is up to date. No beta drivers.
No ovcerclocking.
Haven't tried running vanilla as he uninstalled it.
Not forcing anything via graph software.

Haven't tried setting the affinity though.

Thanks for the tip dawg

What Naytdawg wrote.

wow this got out of hand.
What I meant is that he uninstalled everything. bf and pr.
Im trying to find a solution for him so I can say "hey, download it again and try this". He said that he would once I got a few suggestions for him.

Thanks for all your help so far.
