NWA Mumble Night (Just an idea)

I was talking with [301]killer about possible matches and stuff and we both come the decision that we hate matches it just makes PR seem cod like. So i was thinking it would be good to have more of a passworded mumble only event, see how the first one goes and maybe becoming a monthly occurrence. We could invite 301 UKWF and any other community i just think it would be good to have 64 players on mumble and know what they are doing for once. just for one night not have to explain how to request a kit or that you dont spawn on a unknown cache ETC

What you all think?

I dont no weather you remember the all British map night we had a good few months ago, But it was great! everyone was on mumble and every game was a good one.

A scrolling message on the server should be enough to get everyone onto it.

Love the idea I believe merk has done this to and it was a great succes.

Yea sounds good to me, password it and only give the pass out on mumble, so anyone that wants to play has to get on mumble. simples!

you would have to use the training server for that, you would not be able to stop members of the public on our main server, + there is not enough channels in mumble at this time

Be assured , 301 will be there , we could invite 3dAC too , I think they are interested. Anyway ,we keep an eye on this topic , if we could help with anything just ask (though we don't have server ,we don't have mumble server and we are french ... but still , we want to help)

You don't need a mumble server. There's the official PR mumble server.

I'm happy to run it on the main server.

As far as I know you are allowed to have closed events on the main PR servers and I don't think the DEVs would be pissed about a Mumble Only event where the server is locked and the server pass request only can be done via mumble.

Do they have that much control over the server licenses and stuff? Just out of interest, what are the rules? unless you cant say

thats not wot i ment guys, just wanted to keep the public playing whilt we used the other 64 server, but after speaking with Vandal i understand there may be some issues with the training server.........

If the server is locked we can do wot we like.

Yeah it doesn't quite have the performance or the bandwidth. We can give it a bash but still leaves us with the problem of not having a mumble channel for that server.

We can always request a new mumble channel for our training server cant we?

Would be usefull for training sundays so we dont have to find a channel all the time?

I'd expect most of our public players would want in on the mumble night anyway?

I already have. Apparently the mumble we use right now is a pain in the arse so the devs try to do only wot is important.

can i play devils advocate by saying i don't think NwA needs special events to promote either the server, mumble use or good overall teamwork. yeah some days can get bad and some days mumble use can be patchy and yes we get some newbies and some older hands that don't care for teamwork but generally NwA is the Euro server of choice and its only getting better. this has happened by the unbelievable hard work put in by the admins over time and an incredibly loyal public player base and i think the only way to make NwA even better is to carry on with that hard work and build on that loyalty. just an opinion.

MasterG, you are such an elitist!
The reason our server is so successful is because *NwA* has an INCLUSIVE policy; from noobs (Speeeed) to uber pwners (me), everyone is welcome here. Hell, even our clan name encourages the inexperienced to play here.
However, I totally agree that that the game would be better if everyone used mumble. But the way to do that isn't by locking out all the non-mumblers! Instead we need to get these people using mumble.
Perhaps we could have a regular weekly mumble-only session of one (or maybe two) maps. This may encourage people to start using - especially if we have a public map vote for the session. That will get them using this forum too.
It's a fair amount of work for the admins to set up though. Is it really worth it?

tbh the current way of having lots of mumble only squads works quite well!

We don't have to do it to promote mumble, but just because it would be a fun event. Don't get hung up on the whys.

Yea it'll just be nice to have everyone on mumble for once, and it generally attracts more teamwork oriented players. It might encourage some of the non mumble regulars to try it out, and usually once people try it, they realise its awesome and come back

Would the mumble night be restricted to the clanned members of the community like UKWF, MERK, OD-S ? I'm a regular on your server and use mumble all the time.

The idea isn't to restrict to only clans commando, anyone on mumble would be welcome to join. I think the general idea is to foster a bit more teamwork, and encourage everyone to communicate. Mumble users are generally better at this already

Oh great. Phew. I think mumble is already being increasingly used on NwA server. I remember the epic convoy on Karbala was a result of mumbleness. Insurgency is much more fun with mumble - especially when both sides are using it.

Does anyone remember the 128 player server that used to come on at one point during the day. They decided to password protect their server and showing the password only on their mumble server thus everyone who joined was already on mumble. Great idea and worked very well. I think someone mentioned it already earlier on in this thread but I think this is definitely one way to encourage mumble.

Yea, the server passwording would not be permanent, just a special mumble users only day. All players are perfectly welcome of course but they would have to be on mumble
