PR not launching

Evening all, long time no see

Just swapped my 19" monitor for my 23" from the other room, and for some reason both PR.exe and BF2.exe won't launch - I get the first splash page to say that it's loading and then it kicks it back to desktop once the screen goes black.

The monitor I'm using is a Sammy Syncmaster 2333HD, connected through DVI -> VGA (HDMI quality was really quite pathetic for some reason). When the screen goes black to start loading, the monitor kicks in the auto-adjustment from 1920x1080@60Hz to 800x600@75Hz.

Any ideas?

Can't see it as a monitor issue. I thought you were gonna at you reinstalled to which I would say run bf2 first then make a profile and load PR however...

Graphic driver update or clear out battlefield cache ( bf2 cleaner program )

Any other games got issues?

Tried it over HDMI and DVI -> VGA on BFBC2 and it was fine, as was EVE. (really shocked at how bad the HDMI quality was). Stuck my 19" back on the desk now instead and it's fine - just seemed to me it was a scaling issue (the 23" is after-all and monitor with TV tuner, ala TV).

New monitor should be on the way soon, once I can choose which one to get

delete or drag to your desktop the entire profile folder in my documents\battlefield 2

Also deletl the contents of the folder named mod (same location)

that may fix it.

It could be a monitor problem.
I once had a monitor running @ 61Hz resulting in crash after splashscreen.
I fixed it by "haxing" my default profile to run the game with 61Hz.
\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\Video.con

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

Try changing that to 75Hz instead of 60Hz

there was a global problem with connecting to the servers. should be fixed by now.

Monitor maxes out at 60Hz which I forced using the config file and ATI CCC, still wouldn't have it. The loading screen pops up, that disappears then the game launches - that's where the screen goes black and it scales to 800x600 @ 75Hz, and bugs straight out to desktop. Same with BF2. Odd

try getting 800X600 from video options, restart game(think deleting video shaders will help as well), after that set you video option to desired level(but try keeping thexture option to medium - on high game engine seems proned to crash). Hope will work.

This changes the update rate the game uses, it should be the same as the monitor and from what I can read your monitor uses 75Hz when launching the game, therefore it should be set to 75Hz.

If the monitor uses a different update rate than the game, it will crash after the black screen.

No matter what mod you play (bf2, pr, aix, wtf, etc)

do i need to remove the old pr before i put in this new one or will it just write over it ??
